AvantGo is really slow. And where do the downloaded pages go? I want to uninstall Avantgo and clean up the downloaded pages.

Have you got avantgo installed in BIS? If you have you may want to move it to main mem.

Avantgo in BIS is like swimming through treacle

I use mobipocket. I got newsbreak, but never have messed with it yet.

rss feeds versus website readers

I'm not always sure it makes sense for us to compare "website readers" (for want of a better name) like Avantgo and MobiPocket to the many rss readers that are out there. I personally distrust RSS Feeds. A headline with a two sentence description of a story isn't going to give me information I can really trust. And since I am not usually reading my PDA news near a hot spot, I can't follow through to any links.

Just my opinion.

Unfotunately, both Avantgo and Mobipocket don't seem to work particularly well from storage card (though I get excellent performance when they (and their caches) are in my X30 Mid's main memory.

If you're a little geeky like me, you can try a Plucker document combo. I use Sunrise to collect web pages and RSS feeds into a desktop folder, then transfer them to the Axim CF card with MobSync. I then use Vade Mecum to view them on the Axim.

A little tedious and definitely only for an advanced user, I know, but I have UNLIMITED control over what data I collect and view, and I'm not limited to the feeds provided by "services" like AvantGo; I can collect ANY HTML web page and ANY RSS feed. I also like the viewing performance of Vade Mecum over AvantGo. :approve:

PocketRSS is pretty good. :) ..you have total control over feeds and database. database is not as messy as the some of the other RSS readers out there. for those who distrust short feeds, the link to the full news is there. ;)

another one to use with activesync. http://www.viksoe.dk/code/rsssync.htm
