MortButtons 2.0 release
Despite the name, MortButtons is NOT a tool to assign applications to buttons, like BtnPlus, VITO ButtonMapper, PowerButton, and similar tools.
Instead, MortButtons is a menu system or launcher tool.
It's not meant to be a replacement for the Start menu of Windows, but rather as a "quick start" for the most important applications, documents, and functions.
What makes MortButtons special is: - There are 5 main menus (and as many sub menus as you like)
- Each of these menus can be used with just one button, if it's assigned to an application button. Each time the button is pressed, the next entry is highlighted. After a selectable timespan, the highlightet entry will be started. (Of course, tapping or DPad+"Fire" works, too)
- Extensive possibilities for skins. Just take a glance at the existing ones.
- The menu can occupy either only the rectangle required for the entries or show an own background in the unused area
- The Today theme can be used as menu background
- You can choose between big or small icons. Or automatically: If the entries don't fit on a screen with big icons, the small ones are used.
- Possible entries include all start menu entires, (almost) all files of the entire file system, menu entries from the "New" menu (req. at least WM2003), and some internal functions (e.g. rotation, activation of existing windows, sub menus, etc.)
- Screen orientation can be changed with application launch (e.g. Internet Explorer in landscape)
- The task list is a menu, too. It can be activated either directly or as sub menu.
A manual, alternative Skins, and some other informations can be found here.

Any report back about not getting to your page from my house?

Just uploaded a small update: If the menu background isn't shown, spacers and unused space in the window area are transparent. (Well, in fact it's a screenshot used as background, but as long as the background doesn't change during the menu's shown, there's no visible difference...)
There are also two nice new skins.

Well, as usual, errors are only found after several weeks of beta state...
Thus, there's a V2.01:
- Improved the background type selection (dropdown with "menu background", "today theme", and "transparent" instead of the somewhat confusing "Show menu background" checkbox)
- Bugfix: Submenus sometimes got multiple "Back" entries
- Transparent background (formerly "Show menu background" deactivated) without empty areas
- Input panel (e.g. keyboard) will be hidden
- Entry selection tree works is fitted to landscape
- Bugfix: On hx4700, entries were skipped when using the application buttons
- Bugfix: "Back" entry in submenus sometimes was shown multiple times
@blazingwolf: Is the problem still existing?

I downloaded the newest version yesterday(v2.01). The desktop installer doesn't work. I keep gettin an error saying I need to free up hard drive space. I have about 60 gigs of free hard drive space so I don't think that is the problem.

Strange... The installer is exactly the same as in all previous versions.
Maybe it's too much free space. For a computer, huge numbers and negative values can be the same if it's not programmed correctly. Sadly, the installer's neither from me nor open source, so I can't do anything about it...

Here's a new beta:
- Allows own icons
- Enables own display and timeout settings for each main menu (submenus will inherit the main menu's settings)
- You can add multiple items at once (checkboxes in tree)
- Added upside down rotation (Note: DPad will not be rotated, and Cleartype doesn't seem to work. These are bugs in WM2003 SE, can't do anything about it...)
- Icon resizing (for missing 16x16 or 64x64 icons) should work more reliable
- Bugfix: Sometimes, after changing the background type, the skin's images weren't displayed

Thanks for sharing. I find these programs to be quite intriguing and will try them out soon.
Question: Can you assign a MortRunner script to a MortButton menu?

Of course. Technically, it's just a document, like e.g any PocketWord document.
And here's a new update. It contains mostly smaller bugfixes (e.g. menu settings didn't work for MortButton3 - MortButton5) and beautifications (e.g. folders before files in tree).
Oh, btw.: It's the PPC exe. I.e., it requires an installed V2.0, just replace the MortButtons.exe with the contained file.

Here's the latest beta.
It also includes translations to French and Italian, but they're not complete. Corrections and completions are gratefully accepted...
