I believe Decuma is what you're looking for, but it isn't freeware.

Read & Write Japanese!
I just got this dictionary:

It has a keyboard for entering kana and converting it to kanji when using the dictionary. BONUS! It works in Pocket Word. It has a cool prediction / conversion tool that shows choices for kanji, just like the IME in XP.

Decuma Japanese is my favorite Japanese IME. It's a pity that it will not work on WM6.
