Online Version of Zap2it TV Listings

There is also an online version of the Zap2It TV listings.

Click on the link below and enter your zipcode (not sure what to enter if you reside outside the U.S. ?)

http://tvlistings4.zap2it.com/partne...tner_id=cacacu

This online listing has the ability to add shows directly to a Palm Desktop calendar, but not Microsoft Outlook.

It creates vCAL files of program reminders, which can be imported by Outlook, but it's an extra manual step, because you first have to download and save the vCAL file, and then import it into Outlook, and it only does one TV show at a time per file.

If you register (free) at this website, you can customize your online listings to show up to 6 hours of programs, and select only the channels you wish to show.

Are there any other alternatives to this program? Other PPC apps that can do this?
I downloaded listings today with no problem. Are you sure your Zap2it subscription is current?

Sigh...it wasn't working yesterday, but it's working today. My registration to Zap2It seemed to go without a hitch yesterday, so I don't think it was that...then again I don't know what it was. But anyway this time it worked. :)

Guys, PTVL is genius stuff, I've been using it for years, but weblink is dependant on Thumb's Up website. However, if you use Fiddler https://www.fiddlertool.com/
you can capture the packets that weblinks sends and receives from Thumb's Up (it's simple has it been updated response).

Then, if thumb's up does ever go down permanently, you can spoof and loopback the response back to weblink locally and it should still work ad infinitum.

Can you please post a step by step how to download "Listings.dat" from zap2it using fiddler? That would be very useful. Love PTVL and always kindda scared that the website might go down and will take down PTVL with it.

If you're saying that this can be used insted of Weblink, this is a GREAT find!! All this time and no one ever mentioned it.
Now I'm on the other end of the genius scale so I'm gonna "try" and figure how to use this!

Thanks!

No guys, it can't be used instead of WebLink.
At this time, you guys use zap2it to download listings, and weblink to convert them.
There's no big problem with weblink's functionality, but it is however dependant on the brief logon to thumbs up's website before processing.
If thumbs up goes down, as it has on occassion, then we'll be semi-screwed because we can't use weblink.
Options then are to reverse engineer the listings.dat format (i did this years ago, but they've changed the format since, but I've had no problems with weblink to justify reversing it again).

However, since weblink is generally fine, if thumbs up goes down, we will need to spoof the "heartbeat" required before processing with weblink.
Steps then:
- use fiddler to gather the received packet (I've done this anyway, but I state it here for your reference)
- write a local server for your own pc, modify your hosts file to loop back to 127.0.0.1 and log on to your own webserver, receive the spoof heartbeat, and then weblink wil continue to process.
- alternatively, someone (eg me) can host the required heartbeat packet on a server and use your hosts file to redirect to my server (www.vijay555.com) and get the heartbeat from there.

Note, this is all hypothetical for now, since weblink and thumbs up work fine for now. But it seems inevitable that at some point thumbs up will be thumbs down, so they'll be viable options then.

Re replacing zap2it, you can write your own listings downloader.
Since I'm in the UK, zap2it was never an option, so I wrote my own listings downloader.

Ok, now you've got me - been ignoring this thread since I'm in the UK too and would love an app like this, but assumed there was no source for data... any chance of making your downloader available??

I installed the PTVL utility from

http://ptvl.thumbsupsoft.com/

When I run Weblink to download the new listings I get an alert from my McAfee Antivirus.

The message I get is that Weblink.exe is accessing

C:\Program Files\Thumbs Up!\Pocket TV Listings\cache\2147479210.dat

and finding Univ.script/99a (Virus). McAffee deletes the virus.

Is anyone having trouble with this?

TIA
