Can someone give a step by step guide on using this for UK use?
I have the xmltv GUI grabber that gives me a data.xml file that I use with another ppc viewer but would love to get this version running.
When I try to import the xml file I just receive "error (2) opening from file....settings.dat"

any help please?

Since I'm in the UK, zap2it was never an option, so I wrote my own listings downloader.

I would be very interested in your downloader. Is it something i can adapt for my own use? Would you be willing to share it? TIA

I too, would love to have the opportunity to use yours (vijay555) or any other custom downloader so that I can use PTVL to view UK program information. When I use the xmltv GUI grabber that gives me a data.xml file, I can use this with other ppc tvguide programs but the PTVL pc zap-it downloader app, refuses to import the data and I would love to get this version running.

Have been looking for a TV Guide for the UK and all have come across so far is

Pocket TV Guide Beta

http://www.robs-home.org.uk/software/PocketTVGuide.php

and

Radio Time PDA/Mobile which is a paid service at £14.95 per year.

http://radiotimes.tvcompass.com/rt/Home.aspx

Anyone else ever tried these or know of any more?

I'm using Rob's TV Guide and it's brilliant - no need for any flaky scripting to update on the desktop side.

It looks fine in VGA and it downloads UK XMLTV listings from bleb.org directly through your WiFi. You can have 7 days worth and whatever channels you like by modifying the XMLTV download string. It does XMLTV files too so you can manually copy over or set up a synced folder so your desktop does the downloading - whatever you like.

Give it a try, it's the most painless guide I've tried yet.

As for RadioTimes' own Pocket PC guide, I tried it and it was poor, which is a shame because their website is so good. It doesn't do VGA, so it looked horrendous and was painfully slow on my X50v. It's also a pay thing I think, so it's definately a no-go for me.

Rob's guide is now my TV guide of choice thanks to his program combined with bleb.org's brilliant free listings.

This program is great :) . Installed it on my x51v A12 and it runs fine using the Black and Gold II skin. The problem is that when i first open a session with it, the screen says "PTVL Loading Data" and then an error pops up saying "Error Extracting Screen." Click OK and the program closes. Restart it and it comes up as it should fully functional. Close it and open it again and the error is back. Every other execution brings up this error. Just closing and restarting and its fine. Any ideas? Thanks in advance for your help.

I had that problem too. Try downloading data for 7 days, see if that works.

Thanks for the reply. I set it to download for 7 days and it does no problem but I'm still getting the error. Any other ideas?

I think I fixed it. I changed from the Black and Gold II skin to the original Black and Gold skin. The problem is gone. There must be something about that skin that the program doesn't like... Thanks for the help.
