I will like to install all 3 products but i need help in determining the best location. I have an X50v with 1GB SD storage.

I am inclinded to install ListPro in SD storage, ewallet in BIS and Dockware Pro in Main memory.

Where do you all recommend i install the products.
so far, when i install my new apps, i always opt for the Default Location option.
i currently have a SanDisk 512Mb SD card. i know they come in 1 Gig size also, as well as the Compact Flash in 1 gig as well.
im gonna get me one of those (each) some other time.

but does it matter much where apps are stored?
are there actualy benchmarking tests done to see what loads what faster?

The order of speed for fastest to slowest is RAM, Built In Storage, Flash Card. I install all of my apps to my SD card to leave the RAM free to run apps. I use the built in storage to keep critical files and backups as they will not get deleted during a hard reset.

Main memory (default location) is the fastest type of storage.
The main memory is shared for storage and running programs. So when you install to much in Main memory your device is likely to become slower and more unstable.
My advice: store the 'must have apps' on your device (so you can take storage cards out and still run your 'must have apps').
Only install today plugins and programs that need the default location into your Main memory. Other 'must have apps' go into BIS. Leaving all the other programs to be installed onto a storage card.
As for myself: I've only installed the today plugins and things like the tweaked GAPI driver into Main and the rest is on my storage cards. I've tryed different setups but this seems to run best.

My question for you guys is that why is it when you install programs on you BIS that it takes up space still on your main memory?

Is there any advantage inb storing apps on a CF over the BIS... i would like to keep as much of my maim memory free as possible.

Thanks guys.

Even when you store files in BIS, some files are often put into the windows directory, such as some dlls and sometimes links (shortcuts) to the actual program itself.

I believe BIS is outside of regular device memory, the thing is that BIS is very slow, slower than your typical SD card so I would recommend not putting critical apps (stuff you use constantly) into BIS.

From my experience the speed of memory goes like this:

SLOWEST:
BIS
CF
SD
MAIN MEMORY
FASTEST:

When you reset your device all applications/files you save in BIS,CF,SD are maintained, and anything stored in Main Memory is lost. That being said, some applications require files that typically are unimportant to you (DLLS, config files, etc) into main memory so installing software on anything but Main memory doesn't mean the software will run fine when you reset so keep that in mind.
