Sprite Backup

Wanted to get an idea of how people felt about Sprite Backup and whether I should buy it or not. I like the idea of having it backup my ppc automatically.

3 Questions:

1. What do you like most about it?
2. Would you recommend it?
3. Which should I buy Sprite Backup Basic or Premium?

1. Restore individual files. Backup file can be executable so that you won't need the app to restore. Can select what files to backup. Ability to schedule a backup. Auto generated backup names--I flip-flop between 2 backups on storage card.

2. :approve: Definetly.

3. Premium. You can backup your device to the desktop PC in cause your storage card goes south. For me, these backups also get backed-up during my Full/Incremental cycles on my desktop.

I agree with all the above. In addition :-

1. Backup files can be compressed down to about 50% thus saving space.

2. I wouldn't be without it.

3. With Premium you also get two extra programs. Space Detective - a very nice memory analyzer, and PocketMon which I think is the best of the battery/memory monitor plugins. It needs to be re-written for VGA though.

See here http://www.aximsite.com/boards/showp...85&postcount=6 for the reasons I like Sprite.

I opted not to go with the premium edition because
-While you can back up directly to the PC over wifi, you can not create a separate schedule to do so. I wanted to have a daily backup scheduled to SD card, and weekly to the PC.

-The only other real benefit to the premium edition was the Today screen plug-in (battery meters, memory meters, etc). I already had this covered with SBP PocketPlus. As stated above, this is really a matter what YOU want. If I remember right, there's only about $10 difference in the price.

First of all I'd like to say thank you to all who responded.

I did a search and read several reviews on the software. Problem is that most of their awards and reviews that I found were over 1yr old. That being said I like what I read.

Dsutz, I checked out your posting. Very informative and sealed the deal for me.

Looks like I will be purchasing Sprite Backup Premium.

Bye....

Sprite Standard

1. The ability to close all processes prior to a backup.
2. Absotively
3. I definitely recommend basic. Just create the backup to your SD card, then transfer the backup file to your PC manually for safekeeping.

Urrr, Ummm, Has anyone noticed that Sprite has change their site? I don't see the premium edition anymore. It looks like the basic edition is gone. Price is 29.99 US.

Yep, but it looks like it's the other way around. Looks like standard is gone, and premium has been renamed. The product description mentions that you can backup to your SD card or PC . . . and it also looks like they removed the freebie utilities that they threw in with the Premium version.

I spent some time on their site and only one version is available. I haven't see any reference to the two free utilities offered with sprite backup. I have the standard edition version 3.1.4. The upgrade is now $15 instead of $10 just a few days ago.

Hey all,

Looks like either Handango is outdated or Sprite Backup site is just lacking, but everything you guys have spoke of is listed @ Handango's site.

Both editions are available, standard and premium. The premmium purchase includes PocketMon & Space Detective. Lastly, the upgrade is there for $10.

Yesterday I purchase, from handango, the upgrade for Sprite Backup Standard. It came with the two added free utilities. Even not available at Sprite Webpage you still can get it through Handango. I just wanted to share this with you guys.

Finally went and did it. I am the new proud owner of an authorization code for Sprite Backup. I did go with the premium edition since I had 20% discount which brought the price down to $24.

Love the program and it did not disappoint as it worked seamlessly with a restore after a ROM update. Also like Space Detective, clean interface and just a handy program. PocketMon on the other hand serves me no purpose at this point in my ppc life.
