Question New email notification sound in PPC Outlook?

Under Start -> Settings -> Sounds & Notifications -> Notifications tab, there's a notification for

"Messaging: New e-mail message"

It has the option to play a sound, to select a sound to play, to display a message on the screen, and to flash the light for a specifiable interval.

However, no matter what I set this to, My X50V *NEVER* notifies me audibly that new mail has arrived.

Yes, I've definitely made sure that the sound isn't muted or turned down. It can make noises and play wav files. It just seems that Outlook isn't aware it's supposed to actually trigger this notification.

Has anyone seen this work? Does anyone know how to make it work?

Bump...

Having the same problem here on my X30. Anyone know why it won't notify me of new emails?

I am syncing using Server Sync to Exchange 2003 over Wifi...When a new mail arrives, the only notification I get is my today screen shows an unread message...No sound, notification box etc etc

Have you enabled sounds for Programs? It's Start-Settings-Sounds & Notifications-Sounds.
There's two check boxes for Programs, see if they're checked.
Also verify the setting for Events.

Ok, well then

Do you use sub-directories in your Outlook inbox? Do all your new emails go directly to the Inbox, or do you have rules set up that moves them to another folder after receipt?

Yeah, exactly the same setup as I have:

No filters.

No disabled sound effects.

And yet, nothing happens when I get new mail.

Problem Resolved!!!!!!

guys,

i figured out the problem, after having 2 different units replaced thinking it was bad images, plus a given cracked screen.

the messaging problem is that under messaging, go to accounts, and go to your email account options, and choose to DOWNLOAD full body message instead of download ONLY headers.

i tested several times and problems resolved!

There must be something else on top of that, because I've always been set to download full messages instead of headers.

That might have been the final piece of the puzzle on yours, but I must be missing a different piece somewhere.
