Remote2PC Rocks

Due to budget constraints and a super cheap price I bit the bullet on an X50-low a few months back...and sorely regretted not having gotten Wifi built-in. Well I finally got a CF Wifi card made by Sandisk recently.

I was surprised and annoyed at how slow Pocket IE rendered even the simplest web pages...and so set about searching for a better way to surf the web...and I have come across Remote2PC application.

Basically it is a VNC type app that allows you to control your desktop/laptop PC from the Axim. After setting it up, I started browsing web pages on my PC and only the screen image via Remote2PC appearing on my Axim.

Dudes, this application is very fast...and does a great job. I can now have my desktop render webpages correctly in Internet Explorer instantenously and surf them very efficiently via the Axim.

For anyone who has not tried...give this app a shot (trial available) and see how much of a joy browsing becomes.

Note: Remote2PC does much more than what I have described above

Can you please do a comparison with the built in terminal app? Which one is faster?

I've been interested in this utility for awhile now, but never got around to trying it. Does it require an Internet connection (like www.logmein.com), or merely wifi?

Moved to Applications.

On the onset without any kind of benchmarking it appears quite a bit faster than terminal services. Its screen difference (the changes which take place between one transmitted screen and the next transmitted screen)algorith appears more solid and tuned for speed.

Remember unlike terminal services it runs its own server seperate from windows services and does not log you out of your desktop/laptop when you use it (could be a benefit for some).

Also note that it has tons of shortcuts on its PPC app windows which simplify life a lot. You can send alt-tab, ctl-alt-del, shutdown/reboot pc etc with shortcuts on the application menu. There are many more features...especially great is the zoom in/out and change color depth features which are amazingly fast.

PS. I do not work for Z2 and only promoting this software so diligently because it has made a great differenc to the way I use my Axim. :)

Yea Remote2PC rocks, its the fastest remote app i've tried on PPC, one amazing thing is callback fonction, which enables to access a machine on a very secure firewalled network over the internet, since the host is calling the client. What I dont like is that you cant access PC to PC with the same applications. so I was wondering at the same time, Someone knows another application with callback fonction??

Just to echo the above, my trial of remote2pc has just finished and I'm lost without it. For me this is a must-have app - can do anything on my x50v that I can do on my desktop. It is indeed very fast too, faster than PTvncHI. You're not going to be able to do any serious fragging in Counter Strike though - it's not quite that fast!

@krypticide: No, setup installs server program on as many PCs as you want, (licence allows one PPC). If you can access the PC by WiFi or activesync (etc ?) then so can the program
