Warning: Dont Scan Ur Sd Card W/ Pocket Mechanic Etc. Etc....must Read!!!
i heard all the great review about pocket mechanic. so i decided to install it today. i was messing with some setting like clean up temporary files. then i ran scan disk to check my sd card for any error. it report no error. then the next thing i know...half of the stuff on my sd card was gone even though my axim report the same amount of disk space being use! i couldn't see the other half of my stuff in file explorer. then i use a card reader to read the sd card and same thing! half the stuff was gone. so i had to reformat my sd card again. so somehow the pocket mechnic screw up my sd card. i have a 1 gb lexar sd card btw. my 1 gb card was working perfectly before this happen. i had this sd card for about 5 month.
i remember once i had a 256 MB sandisk sd card. and it was working perfectly too until i ran some scan disk with other utility...it wasnt pocket mechanic..something else...cnex or something like that..and it also screw up my sd card.
so this is a warning to everyone out there...dont run scan disk on ur sd card with pocket mechanic or anything other utility...it will mess up ur sd card!!!
I tried to defragment it using PocketMechanic, and it took forever. Turns out, it was frozen on one file, and corrupted everything it touched! I had to re-install a lot of stuff...

I've been using it for ever 8 months without a problem

A month or two ago I asked in a post which of the PPC utilities for expansion cards was best. The overall answer from many folks was, "None! The existing utilities may work for you, but will likely screw up your cards." It's sad we have to take our SD and CF cards to a PC for maintenance and repair, but that's the current state of affairs. A few people may have problems with anything, but when lots of people have problems... No thanks!
I believe a window pops up suggesting that you back up all your data before proceeding. I've not had an issue in over a year and a half of use.
I don't use it to defrag my SD card. You're better copying your data off to your PC, deleting all the data on the card, and then restoring it.
wooch: activesync dont allow backup of sd card...i believe some other program does that i.e. "mighty sync" or something like that. but it is a pay software... and im not paying something for that...and in the case of copying data from sd to pc...come on...who is gonna do it??? im too lazy as it is.
im just letting u guys know....u can take the warning or not. just dont scan or defrag ur sd card if it is working probably. if u do it....u playing russian roulette!!!
I didn't mention anything about synching via activesync. I said copy your data to your PC, delete the files from your SD card, and restore them. I use a SD Card reader to transfer my files to PC, delete them, then copy them back to the card.
Regarding being too lazy to copy your data off, well, what can I say. Then you run a risk of loosing it, same with a PC.
