This is being talked about over at Brighthand. Not trying to drive people over there but I haven't seen anything here yet. :)

PocketPCFreeware is a very nice site and I have used it quite abit to get free software. I highly recommend it.

since most of the popular email apps like WebIS Mail, etc. are not compatible with the japanese language, and i wouldnt want to go for the built-in inbox application (its stupid), i opted for something else... qMail

its a really nice app - easy to use, quite stable, etc. and very customizable...

actually in http://www.wincefan.ne.jp (one of the japanese PPC site), it is rated among the popular email applictions

and yes!!! it is a legit application...

Yea I tried qmail yesterday and it works fine with my dasextreme.com email account but I cannot get it to work with Gmail.

I am trying to set it up with my GMail account and the SSL option is greyed out. Anyone know why?

install the ssl pack at the bottom of the page where you downloaded Qmail.
haven't tried it , but saw the ssl pack there.

this will not work on my axim x50v after unzipping and coping exe and dll files to internal storage. is there a trick to get the install to complete. all it does is create a new foldere for prefs and stuff... then locks up. any ideas?

Got qmail to work with gmail today.
I had missed the ssl pack download - thanks
Copied all the files to a folder in BIS on my x50v and it runs fine
with ozVGA too. The only thing that I have checked out is to download email. :approve:

are you using the right version?

QMail has separate versions for BOTH WM2003 and WM2003SE...

i finally got it to work. was using the right version... but was trying to create mail folders in my "built in memory" once i created those folders in the "main memory" it worked. weird.

still cant get imap to work, but i think that is due to security settings on mail server.

gmail works.

I have had no success.......but will keep trying.

Only limitation of this program is that it does not support HTML emails.

Hi all, the newsgroup setup is kinda strange but it goes like this. Setup account and name is news or whatever you want and in the advanced tab you want to connect to the server before send and receive. when you are done with that go back out to the folder list and tap and hold on the new account and select create. there you will actually put the name of the news server you are trying to access (microsoft.public.pocketpc).
