Resco Explorer vs. Advanced Explorer
Resco Explorer vs. Advanced Explorer... is Resco really worth that much more? What does everyone use/think?

I dont know what advanced explorer is. I used to use Total Commander its a great FREE explorer. Has most of the features that Resco does. I ultimates upgraded to resco, its prettier and has a few more advanced features. Both are great so look at your budget and decide.

I've used Resco Explorer since I discovered that the built in search function in 2002 would only find files in the My documents folder. I have used it ever since and it works flawlessly and easily and allows me to edit the registry quickly and cleanly. I don't think I have ever read a post from a resco user who didn't love it. So let your budget be your guide, just remember that cheaper isn't always cheaper if you end up replacing it later.

I have a bunch of file explorers:
Free:
Total Commander
GSFinder
Fee:
Resco Explorer
Advanced Explorer
Out of them all, Total Commander is my favorite. It's not as full featured as Resco, but I love it nonetheless.
Between RE and AE - Depends on how much you'll use it.
I recommend installing Total Commander and GSFinder. If you find you need the FTP functionality, get AE for $3, or whatever it's going for now. If it still doesn't meet your needs, install the trial of RE, and then determine if you could really benefit from it.

I own AE and RE. AE is a good and cheap alternative, with a handy waste basket feature. But, RE is VGA ready for my X50v, while AE looked like crap. And, I do think that RE has more features and is basically the gold-standard of File Explorers.
I bought it with Stickies, and PhotoViewer (the Utility Suite--I think they call it), which was on sale as a package, and I had a 20% coupon at Handango for taking their survey, and I also had a bonus discount to redeem from Handango, so it was pretty cheap.
I didn't need RE, as I had AE, but I am glad I have it now, and I do think it's a super program.

I use advanced explorer and love it. for two bucks, I got an FTP client, zip program, file explorer, registry editor, network browser, and the recycle bin. I compared it with Resco and saw no value in paying for the more powerful program... at least not how I use it.
