gsplayer and volume control issues

I have a x50v and am using gsplayer for MP3's.

Having issues with volume control. I can move the volume slider from 0 to 4 and then it goes to 7. I cannot get it to move from 0 to 1 then to 2 then 3. On either 0 or 4 there is no sound at all. When it jumps to 7 I get sound. Kind of loud for the lowest setting possible at this point. Everything over 7 is too loud for using headphones.

Anyone have this issue or know what I can do to fix it. I sometimes fall asleep to music and on volume 7 it gets loud very quickly....

Yes, I have noticed the same thing. I thought it was just me. I also run x50Mix so I don't know if that has anything to do with it or not. I have two sets of headphones. The better of the two is more sensitive to the volume control than the other.

For me it has nothing to do with headphones. I can use anything and its just the volume control in gsplayer. I can only get 0,4,7 on up. 0 or 4 = no volume. 7 = not soft enough for sleeping with.

it doesnt have anything to do with the headphones. I have an Ipaq Rx3715 which goes in intervals of 2. 0 = no sound and 2 = sound and so on till 100. Anyways, i think its just the pdas volume capacity. What you could do is plug in the headphones and not put them in your ear just lay them next to you on a bed stand and turn up the volume and use them as mini speakers. Thats what i do.

Could also get headphones that include volume control- this gives you added line of defense.

Same thing here, had this on my previous X3 too.

Except on this unit, I can't set the volume below 7, because it simply mutes. Anything below 7 cannot be heard with any headphones/speakers because no sound comes out . At 7 its pretty darn loud though, so thats sometimes a pain. I'm going to get an iPod Shuffle 1GB this Friday, so I won't have this problem anymore :P.

Well for me it goes 0 - 2 - 4 - 6 - 8 and that is where I get sound on the X50v.

Yes it is too loud I agree. What you need to do is go into the "Effects" menu, turn the equaliser on and turn down the "pre-amp". This gives a much more sensitive control of the sound at low volume.

Cheers

I tested the same mp3 I had been using before on Windows Media Player and the volume worked great on that application so its just a GSPLAYER issue.

Well this actually worked. I played around with the EQ and shaping it into a v and then was able to turn down the pre-amp and this worked great. Still only get sound on 7 or above but now it is not as loud as before.

Sorry that my post was not very clear. The volume control jumps with both sets of headphones. But the better of the two headphones is louder at "7" than the other set.

I played around with X50Mix (free utility) and it has a separate headphone boost control that can turn down the loudnes at the "7" setting. After playing with it I was able to get a reasonable low volume setting at 7. It's a great equalizer too. Joe Bob sez check it out!
