When you install on desktop there is link to buy on Handango for $14.95 after 40% Dell OEm discount. After you install this Update over old version and tap un register it asks for username & reg code, ther 5.0 ver says Full version.

Kinda sucks that Dell shipped ver 5.00 that doesn't work correctly on x50v. It won't play mpeg files, yet works fime on X50 standard. This is the only full app that Dell bundled with X50's.

I actually thought I had a bad Axim 50v and received exchange from Dell but same problem. Installed this ver 5.32 and now mpegs play, so Dell sent me exchange for no reason now.

I gues in 31 days I know whether i need to buy 5.32 or if it free update.

I too also receied pop up at 1st launch that this "Demo version" won't work with Jpegs or Tifs. Curious what other formats do Digital Cameras use????????????

The Dell CD comes with Resco Photo Viewer (mine was v 5.0). If you install it the "about" page will always say that it is an UNregistered version and that you have 31 days left in the trial. Thing is, it will always say that. The 31 days will never change to say 30, 29, 28, ect. It just stays at 31, so you can use the software forever and not pay anything. That is why Dell says they give you a free full version of the software.

Now, thanks to GJW, you can download an update to the latest version. (5.32 at this time) and it will work the same way. The about screen will still say you have 31 days to register. But again, that number does not change and you don't ever have to register.

So, Install the version on the Dell CD. Then install the update form the link above or go to the www.resco-net.com and download it form there.

It is nice software and Dell gave it to us for free on the Dell CD. Up until gjw pointed it out I was happy with a free v5.0. Now I have the latest version and am even happier!

Good Luck~
I downloaded the update in gjw post, and installed it over v5.0 I had installed from the Dell CD. Just for fun I got courious and decided to change the date on the x50v 38 days ahead. Upon opening Photo viewer again, I got a message " DEMO EXPIRED - Unregistered version do not support JPG,GIF,TIF. - Would you like to Register now? Yes/No"

I selected NO and the program runs normal anyway. :) I could still open JPG files, didn't have any GIF or TIF to try.

When I changed the date back, I still get the same DEMO EXPIRED message, but I still just answered no to the question and the program still runs.

31 days to go, or just that it is just a 31 day evaluaiton period?

Wait another couple of weeks, or set your date forward far enough that it is beyond the 31 days, don't forget to set it back afterwards, then open Photo Viewer. You will probably get the message demo expired. :rolling:

Demo Expired

Interersting enough though when I say NO, the File still opens.
So unless I shell out the cash, I will have annoying snag screen but seems like I will be able to view file.

What are differences of 5.32 over the Free ver 5.00 that Dell shipped other than MPEGS won't play on X50V(but will on X50).
I can always use Betaplayer so what will i be getting for the $14.95 upgrade price?

I couldn't get the OEM version to run in True VGA Mode (using SE_VGA). After the upgrade it works fine. I'm a bit nervous about the expiration issue however. I guess I'll see in about 24 more days. Maybe mine will be like everyone elses - just a nag screen.

The whole upgrade seems shady to me. Many people would have chosen NOT to upgrade had they known it was a demo which would expire after 31 days. Now they are stuck with a nag screen. Knowing this, I'm sure many people would have preferred to stay with the free version 5.00 (from the Dell CD) instead of upgrading to 5.32 for a minor increase in functionality, albeit with a nag screen.

It's fine if Resco wants to charge for their products. By all means, they are entitled to make a living. I simply disagree with the lack of info provided and the description of it as an OEM upgrade, when in fact it is a demo which expires. Even if it does continue to work, a nag screen is annoying. Resco should at least be upfront about what is being provided.

I'm basing my comments on what's been posted here the last few days and the experiences of AximSite users. I myself have not installed this so-called upgrade version, so perhaps we'll have to wait for more time to pass in order to get the full picture. However, it sure sounds like it's a demo that expires with a nag screen after that.

I have done the upgrade and there is no change in any nag screens. Outside of having the improved features of the newer version. It looks the same. When I go to the "About" screen it says Demo Expired. Same as 5.0 did. So I am very happy with the upgrade and would recomend it to anyone.

FlyACL, did your 31 days expire while you were still using version 5.00? Have 31 days passed since you've upgraded to 5.32? If so, are you saying you never see a nag screen when using Resco Photo Viewer 5.32?

FlyACL, your experience seems to be different than what others are claiming. Interesting.

For those of you that say you are getting a nag screen, when do you see it? Immediately upon launching Resco Photo Viewer? Do you see it every time you open an image file? Just so I understand, you see a message that pops up saying "DEMO EXPIRED" prompting you to register, which requires you to click "NO" in order to continue, correct?
