does anyone know any good religous software? quickverse is good, and esword crashes and is slow (bug?) any suggestions?

That is strange about E-Sword, I have never had a problem with it. You should try contacting the author of E-Sword, he is a really nice guy and very helpful.

I agree. Esword has never given me any problems. It doesn't seem overly slow to me either and it has by far the best selection of bibles, commentaries, dictionsries for the price. I'd also suggest contacting the developer. Maybe there was a problem with installation.

Try also Laridian - good stuff and NIV as well for ~$20.

I think e-Sword is fantastic. Aside from the fact that it's free, it's also quite userfriendly. I've not encountered any probs with it and am most pleased with this s/ware.

Olive Tree is really good, works well on my Axim, and they are expanding their Bible, commentary, and original language offerings quite often.

Under what circumstances is E-Sword crashing ? I have never seen that and I have a number of different bibles, dictionaries and commentaries loaded. It is only slow when you search across the entire bible. Navigating is quick in my opinion. Just a pity the NIV is not available for it.

Another vote for OliveTree. They offer the best collection of original language tools and a large selection of translations and other references. Their offerings increase regularly, as do updates to existing products. Execution is very fast on my X50v, databases work on PPC and Palm, and the reader itself is free. There are also free Bible versions and references.

Just curious if anyone has tried any of the devotionals for e-Sword? Any recommendations?

Also, NIV and NLT are the two versions I read most often but e-Sword doesn't offer them at the moment. Can anyone tell me which of the ones available would be most in line with what I am used to?

The ESV is probably closest to what you're accustomed. I'm surprised that it is available for free, but it is an excellent translation.

Thanks, guys. I picked up the Hoekstra devotional then went ahead and got the Meyer too. I figured doing an extra lesson for a few days ain't exactly a bad thing and I'd get a feel for which one I like more. I grabbed the ESV and I do like it so far. I do have to say that it seems MUCH easier to keep up on my Bible study with the palm. I had been trying to juggle 3 bibles and devotional book between work, home, travel, etc. and just kept getting behind because I leave it somewhere or just forgetting. The PDA really makes it available at the touch of a button and so much easier to track.

Its funny how people ask questions and then always end up just doing what they should have in the first place... just tried everything out for themselves.
