Audiobook player

Looking for one of these, Getting bugged with WMP10.
Need something like an E book reader.
The audiobook ranges from 20mins to 3 hours in a single mp3.
I need something that maybe has bookmarks or resumes from the last closing. Also something that forwards and rewinds without the considerable lag I get with WM10.
Any suggestions?

Thanks.

I use Mort Player for my audiobooks (has all the features you mentioned and then some). It's free too.

Check out Audible. It is proprietary and DRMed, but they have a fairly good selection. If you buy a membership, the price per book isn't too bad. The software allows you to bookmark, pause, fast forward, jump to sections, and so on.

Are there any sites for free audio books? I know it will probably be public domain, classic stuff but I'm still interested.

I use http://www.audiobooksforfree.com/screen_main.asp, the free audio quality is bearable but you can change the sound setting to make it clearer.

Better player for Audible (.aa) files?

I seem to recall reading somewhere, that there is a replacement program for the Audible.com player for their .aa file format. I don't know if this program is freeware or a purchasable product, but I understand that it allows you to change the playback speed of the audio book, and has a nicer user interface than the simple player provided with your Audible.com subscription.

Does anyone have any info on this?

Thankyou!

Just for grins, I checked on Audible.com for a new audio player. When I originally subscribed, I selected PDA, Dell, Aximx51 for my device, and was presented with the Audible software downloads. Today I noticed at the very bottom of the web pages, right above the copyright line, is a line of links - "RSS | Podcasting | Wireless | Software". I clicked on software and was taken to a page for various software downloads. The "Microsoft Windows Mobile Devices" section has download link - and it will install a new version of the Audioplayer, v 5.0.0.8, which is much inproved over the prior versio I was using. Using this link does not install over your Audible library software on your pc, but immediately invokes the Axim pda software installation. It installed over the older Audioplayer on my Axim, without my having to remove it first. The new player includes AudibleAir in it, which is supposed to allow you (with wireless internet) to view your Audible "My Library" from your PDA, download your audio books and subscriptions and schedule automatic downloads.

No speed adjustment in the new player, but I like the interface much better. Was hoping for a + / - speed playback adjustment, and maybe a simple equalizer function to boost or cut audio freqencies.

Never used Mortplayer before, awesome! I especially like the car screen..big buttons, easy to use.

However, I find it similiar to Core Player, GS Player, etc in the fact that if you exit the program, it will remember your place and pick up there. However, if you exit the file and select another file, it will not remember your place on the first file. Is there anything out there (other than Audible) that will truly bookmark on each file?

Nevermind........

Bookmarks: Contains all existing bookmarks and "Manage bookmarks".
After selecting a bookmark, the file is opened and playback starts at the contained position.
If the bookmark was set after a path or playlist was opened (list skip, favorites or "Other path/playlist"), this path/playlist will be loaded even if it isn't contained in the favorites. This way, you can continue audio books even if they're not in the favorites.
If the bookmark was set in an edited and unsaved playlist ("Playlist" is shown above the playlist), the track is only searched in the current playlist, and, if it's not there, appended to this playlist. This is to avoid that a huge directory content is read into the playlist for those pleople who put everything into only one directory but use playlists to group the files.
