Password prompt problem

First of all I hope I have posted this in the right place. If I haven't sorry about this. I was hoping that someone would know what app is doing this. Whenever I power off my X50v sometimes a white screen comes up with blue buttons and it wants a 4 digit pass code to unlock. I do have 1 pass installed and that actually has an 8 digit code that i programed into it. The screen for 1 pass is different as well. It does not look anything like the one that I get from time to time. Does anyone know what program is doing this? I don't know that 4 digit code and I always have to soft reset it and then the 1 pass passcode screen comes up and then everything works like normal. I am a noob at this and I am kinda lost.

That looks like the built-in password feature. Disable it by going to Start - Settings - Password.

I have a similar problem with NiceStart from TranCreative. Their tech support says this has something to do with how the X50V was designed and interacts with the WM 2003SE operating system. Apparently, there's only a certain amount of memory designated for loading the password program at start up, so the default (Windows) password dialogue will load instead of NiceStart, 1-Pass, or whatever other third-party program we have installed. I have yet to find a satisfying answer to this glitch.

It's annoying, of course. The only sort-of solution I could find was to only use a four-digit password in NiceStart, so I could still access the Axim if the default blue and white screen came up instead. But, eventually, it became too annoying, and I ended up dumping NiceStart and living with the default password access, instead.

Wish I had better news. Good luck!

Just as a followup:

Apparently this is not a problem confined to the X50v. I did a Google search and learned that all, or at least many, of the VGA PDA's running w/WM2003SE have the same problem. Probably has something to do with the extra OS memory required by VGA.

Have you tried a soft reset? Have you install any other password programs?

I have done a soft reset many times and no luck. I do have 1 pass installed. however when the built in password screen locks it over rides. Do you know what the executable file is? i could manually find it and try to launch it. Maybe its just missing from the menu.

Also since the prompt has come up asking for a 4 digit password and I do asoft reset to get rid of it, will that keep it from showing up in the menu. Also since I have never set a password for it, is there a default that it sets until you set you ur self? Now it is coming up and I can't get it to go away. Ususally 1 pass will over ride it. Now it will not go away. Any suggestions? The pass that I set for 1 pass is 6 digits not 4. I really don't want to have to do a hard reset.

When I went to the microsoft webpage for the dell axim win2k3se, it seems that I am missing more than just the password program. I still can't get around this default pass screen. It looks like I may have to hard reset.

Incase anyone was reading this, i hard reset it and then the password option was there in the settings personal menu. I did a restore back and the app is still there. I am trying to disable it like suggested however when i uncheck the prompt if the device is used box, it re-checks itself. Is this because of 1 pass uses part of this program? I would like to be able to disable the built in password program all together and just use a third party app. Has anyone been sucessful with this? I know rehelmer was unsucessful with this. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
