Avantgo working at Turbo Turtle Speed

Since i did my ROM update I went ahead an downloaded the new version of Avantgo to SD. Now I haven't been able to sync my avantgo since I made the change. It is taking hours to sync!!!! It isn't freezing,. I can still see the number of files updating slowly creeping up the scale but only at about 5 files every 2-3 minutes. this is agonizingly slow and really not alot of fun.

I am at over 2 hours syncing and I still don't have my Avantgo. THis is a free account not one of the large 8B accounts and even then I don't think it should be taking this long. Does anyone have any idea why this would take so long to sync? I am open to any suggestions.

I had the same problem. Just assumed it had to do with the more expansive cache files per the latest release being written to the card, which is generally slower than ROM.

I ended up going back to the PIE version.

The new version of Avantgo looks like crap in VGA, plus it's alot slower in general (compared to the PIE ver.).

So the new Avantgo is not using PIE? It is a standalone proram? THis sucks. I am still not done syncing. It has now taken almost 4 hours. I could have visited all the full-size websites via dial up in this amount of time.

Just for fun, go to the avantgo web site on your pc and go into your settings. Try clearing out your cache and other authentification items.

See if that helps.

Oh and btw, I picked up Sunnysoft's World Offline a couple of months ago. Since then, I basically don't use Avantgo very much. WOL allow offline caching of entire web sites for browsing later. You can even set your own synching rules and how far you want links to go within a site. The pages are rendered in IE exactly as they are online. You can sync mobile sites or the regular site.

I usually sync my news sites in the morning via wifi which is set to autosync starting at 5:30am. When I wake up around 6:15, my news has been downloaded and ready for me to browse.

I am removing it. This is insane. At this rate I calculated it would take another 3 hours to sync. I can't leave my Axim on the cradle that long. What was Avantgo thinking???? If anything I would want to be able to sync via BT or WiFI so that I could do it on the run. That goes even slower and would wear out a battery or two before it completed.

i installed AvantGo in BIS, and it syncs in under 5 minutes...maybe you should try reinstalling it there.
