Nyditot Virtual Display.

You can change the resolution of your display.

Does Nyditot, require soft reset to accept changes to resolution?
or can I switch between landscape modes and portrait views at will?

This quote is from the Nyditot Suppor FAQs.
Quote:
The key to creating a virtual display is in "tricking" the Windows CE operating system into "thinking" the display is larger than it really is. At start up, Windows asks the display driver (NVD in this case) for a list of video modes (i.e. display resolutions, number of colors, etc.) that it supports. Typically, there is only one video mode on a CE device. Windows then remembers this information and passes it on to other programs as they are started. Since the operating system only asks this question once at start up, it is necessary to reset the device (Note: This may not be the case in future versions of CE). Note that you can change the orientation or compression setting without resetting the device as long as you do not change the virtual width or height values. Try switching between 640x480 Portrait and 640x480 Landscape. The only exception to this rule is when switching to the "(Disable Virtual Display)" mode. This always requires a reset because the NVD driver needs to be unloaded.

Check out the Members Discount forum. Just posted a 25% discount on Nyditot Virtual Display.

You must reset the device whenever you change resolution. This limitation is imposed by the operating system. Note that you can dynamically rotate the display w/o resetting. For example, if you are in standard portrait mode (240x320) you can rotate to landscape but the virtual display resolution will still be 240x320. You have the option of stretching the display horizontally and compressing vertically to have it fit the physical display or you can scroll vertically.

Another option is to create a 320x320 virtual display. There is a option called "Resize Desktop" that repositions all open windows to fit within the physical display. There are a few caveats (some items cab become clipped with this option on) but the net effect is as if you are changing resolution on-the-fly.
