Pocket Breeze/PI - redundant? please convince me...

can anyone explain to me/convince me that these two apps are not redundant?

i mean, with PI, you have the Agenda View, which in my opinion is much similar to what PocketBreeze does (as a Today plugin)...

i have the money to spend - but at least, can anyone explain to me the logic? 'coz i really do not get it...

PS:but i do know that PocketBreeze makes the Today screen a lot better (with the skinning options)

The value of PI depends on how you use your calendar. If you do a lot of really intensive stuff, flipping between views, sorting, etc. etc. PI does a lot more. If all you need to know is what you are late for... PB will to the trick nicely.

based on what you are saying, then, it would be that PB could be a subset of PI... but there are some people who have BOTH, right? why come? dont you think the functionality overlaps?

PB is mostly a viewer and works well with PI, AF or the built in PIM functions. If I could only have PI or PocketBreeze I would definately choose PocketBreeze. PB gives you instant access to your schedule from the today screen, along with a dedicated tasks and special events tab. For a little extra you can add ContactBreeze which allows you to access all your contacts from the today screen with a few taps. They have also integrated PocketRSS so if you buy this program you can run it in a dedicated tab within PB.

There is also currently one custom tab which allows you to run any today plugin from a tab within PB. If this isn't enough then you should know that they will soon release a version which allows multiple custom tabs, So you could have a dedicated tab for WeatherPanel, PocketPlus or any other today plugin you wish to have but don't have room for on the today screen. Through an accident I downloaded this version and at this point PB is the only plugin that I have loaded directly on my today screen.

As to your point that the functions overlap, there are some overlaps, but not as many as you would think. PB is mainly meant to be a viewer, while the PIM's are meant for editing, creating and viewing in the program. Most people who use their PPC extensively for time management have both an aftermarket PIM and PB.

but cant one access his or her schedule from the PIM itself? i mean, the hardware buttons are mapped to the PIM, right? so, a single press, could say, show the Agenda View in PI - which basically gives you your schedule, special events, tasks, etc. for a set number of days (that is adjustable)...

thanks!!!

PS: im sorry if i become an irritation - it is just that no matter how i try pounding it on my head, it never sinks in...

Yes, but the views are not as configurable, also with PB I don't have to pick up my unit when it in my cradle by my PC - I can just glance and see it.

If you find that you don't need both - then fair enough, but I use both and find each indispensible :approve:

No, they do overlap.. but also complement each other. Personally for me PI is overkill, but I know some people for whom it would be perfect.

I like PB myself.. try the demos if you haven't :)

You can see this post from Amit at SBSH for confirmation that this version exists and was leaked:

You will also see that the quote he is responding to is from me. You'll love this when it is officially released, trust me.

im trying out the demo - yeah, with filters, and different ways to looking at your schedule; it is indeed useful..

to put it simply, everything you'd ever need is in your Today screen - my app shortcuts, my battery meter, my finances, and my schedule...

hhhhmmm... maybe i should have dumped PI, then? i may not find the need anymore (well, maybe to handled alarm notes, and having ABC/123 priorities in Task)

hehehehe...

actually, now that ive been using PI and PB for a couple of days now - i do see the point of having BOTH of them...

they really do complement each other - for a highly functional PIM, PI does the job...

but for getting the info you need, when you need it, in the most efficient manner - PB does the job...

thanks to everyone to help me see the "light"

cheers!!!
