Sidewindow - use Axim as secondary desktop monitor

Anyone give sidewindow (http://www.innobec.com/en/products.php) a try? It's supposed to let you use your PPC as a secondary montior when it's cradled (without installing anything to ppc) so you can extend your pc desktop to it. Looks interesting but I can't get it to work.

Your post was the first I've heard of this. Thought I would give it a try. Very neat software.

What kind of problems are you having with it? Everything went very smoothly for me.

I tried this one out. It was a "cool, this works!" kinda thing that I'll probably never have any real use for.

Make sure you switch off the Picard video driver before you try it -- it only works with the original driver.

This is soooo cool ! Thanks for posting this, I'm now using my '50 as a permanent Trillian side window !!!!
(note: I had to edit settings.ini in the default trillian skin folder, in order to increase the font size)

Cool

I got it to work over a Bluetooth connection. Couldn't due much except see the mouse cursor. In a cradle it will work a lot faster and while I agree that it earns major Geek points I'm not sure I would use it. I can envision all sorts of little programs like IM's or Media Player sitting there on the pocket PC however I prefer to have to my Axim as a PDA and not an extension of my monitor. Very COOL though.

you also realise that once the window is shown on the Pocket PC you can move it and control the contents with the pocket PC's pointer directly on the screen. :approve:

Downloaded the trial version. Really cool software, the only draw back is the large lag time between mouse pointer and actual response on the screen. Also refresh rate on the pocket pc screen seems to be 3 times per second. (I have no way to measure this, just observation). Also I have screen size set to 480X640 (X50v), and it will not show properly unless I check "force low res". I was going to jump on this, but not for $15, (and especially not for $20 once the introductory offer goes away).

There wasn't that much of a lag when I was playing with it., maybe it depends on the PC or the settings

You can be really creative with this piece of software .

I used Pocket Controller and Sidewindow and looked at the sight of Infinity.

i use it to keep winamp off of my screen or whatnot. Its actually verry usefull to clean up the desktop with things that arent of full importance but are nice to keep tabs on. too bad its not fast enouth to watch winamp with while you do other things. Still i find it quite usefull.
