So if Sprite Backup does this ("backups all the databases that exist on your Axim"), I take it that the ActiveSync backup utility does not? Obviously it must not, since my restore attempt the other day (via ActiveSync) lost all my data!
I am not very sure about this, but I think it does not. I believe AS goes with the belief that you are using Outlook and so you would be having the Calendar/Contacts/Notes backup available within Outlook. So perhaps it does not bother copying the database again.

I also have this same option set and it is an excellent selection, IMO. What this option basically means is that if you have your self-restoring backup file on BIS/SD/CF and you happen to hard-reset then you just need to click on this backup file and Sprite will automatically install all your files back. The important thing to remember is that when you did hard-reset, you also ended up deleting Sprite Software from your PPC. But with this option you are able to get back your files without installing Sprite software first and then running the restore option. This can be very important, if you are on a trip and you don't have Sprite software handy to install first to your PPC so that you can restore your backup file. I hope I did not confuse the whole issue.
Just in case you may want to set Sprite to make a backup on your PC. I do mine daily. You may never need this backup; however, I did lose both my RAM and SD at the same time. Inconvenient and rare as hell, but Sprite saves the day.
I've been using the backup built into Active sync but for the life of me I could never figure out how to use it after a hard reset because Active sync wont allow you to use the same name.
I'll set up sprite to back up everything to my computer. sounds like extra insurance :approve:
I read somewhere on this site that Sprite Backup could put the backup file on a PC (via ActiveSync I suppose).
Is there such an option (besides creting the backup file on a SD card and then copying it myself)?
Thanks!

Hey,yeah...that's a good question! I can only figure out how to backup to my SD card, not my PC.

p.s. I am thankful for all the insight and support from you guys and gals. My heart still aches for all the data I lost, but you've all made me feel better about my decision to purchase Sprite Backup. I hope I never have to use it (beyond the backup part) and if I ever do, I'm feeling relatively (sorry, but I'm sure you understand) confident that everything should be okay *crossing fingers!*

With the premium eddition you get the PC software that lets it run sprite on your PPC but puts the backup on your PC (and it even names it sensibly)

Okay, so I'm a dork! After reading all these posts I did a little poking around and "discovered" that my Sprite Backup is found on my PPC AND my PC! Duhhh!
Sooo...I went in and successfully figured out how to do a backup on my PC!
Two questions though...
1) While I have made my backups on my PCC follow a schedule, I didn't see a way to this for the PC. Is there such an option?
Update: Okay, so I found a box under "options" that lets it backup once a week when connected to ActiveSync... That should be fine, but is there no other way to actually "schedule" it?
2) My PC saved the backup file as a .pbf extention....just to see what happened, I tried to open it, and as I expected, it said that Windows doesn't recognize this type of file and gave me a dropdown list of programs to open it with (none of which would work, of course) So, in the event I ever need to restore from the desktop, how the heck would I go about it?

Holy Cow! Backing up all my memory ( RAM, BIS, and SD) is over 600 megs and is taking forever! Three and half hours before I cancelled. I know IR is slower than USB but......

OK, count me in the dork team
I also discovered that under Start-Programs-Sprite Sotftware-Sprite Backup I had a "Sprite PC Service" executable...
Thanks a lot for your help psionandy !!
I usually do a regular full backup of the main mem on the PC.
Once a month (or so) I'll do a BIS backup (as it doesn't really change much now)
And I'll also copy the card (but using a card reader to save time

What I don't understand is how do I delete old backups. I've got everything picked out according to the posts here. I guess because I don't have a lot on the devise the backup is only like 4280kb. I've got it set for 40mg but just changed it to 30mb and max of 2 backups. How do I figure how much I should set the size of the backup to get only 2 in storage.? I've got about 10 backups on there now. Since I first got Sprite.
