hmm. i wonder if theres Ebook of these. think about it, like a full map book in ebook form. could be useful. if theres no freeware map 'tools' that is.

A-Z map books are the best street by street guides you can get in the UK and cover most of the major cities - if you need a free guide to the tube system Visual IT on the sites front page offer a free tube guide, I've tried it and it seems good.

The program itself is free but the maps have a trial period where you don't pay for using them. That's why I said that if you're not going for too long, that might work for you.
If you have Pocket Streets you can download maps of the UK free from microsoft...

Nope... you can buy it for $20-30 I think, it comes free as part of streets and trips (or Autoroute as it's known in the UK).
I had a look round and found it was the cheapest option a few months ago... but feel free to find a cheaper one if you like
