if you use the learn function and the device's remote, just about anything should work. The directions are with the program.

I got the PDAwin software customized. Just waiting for the IR extender to come in the mail.

I REALLY REALLY REALLY wanted one of those but opted for another road since I don't want to have to put the IR in and out all the time. I found a great deal and found a Toshiba E335 PPC. I had one and sold it to up to the Axim. Anyways...

I got it for $65.58 after rebates. I loved the power of the IR on this unit. I could be 30 ft away outside and work my TV, DSS, DVD, CD, reciever etc... .

I plan on using the PDAWin software on it and overnight having it sync using PTVl software for TV listings. Sweet to have TV listings and fully graphical remote operations. If I keep the days to 1-2 days listings, starting it up is fast and actually leaving the program running in the background would be optimal.

My ideal dream is having a way to Link the TV Listings from PTVL to the channel macros in PDAwin. That would be GREAT!!! Just tap the show you want to watch, and it takes you to the channel. I know it's dreaming....but I like to dream. :)

Nope, well not as of right now at least. The only software written to support the PDA-ir extender is PDAwin's TV Remote Controller. I guess PDAwin or some other company could also develop an application to work in conjunction with the extender that would be a file transfer application. But there is not anything like this on the market yet, and I have heard of no plans for anything like this.

Hmm

Hello,
I purchased an IR extender and have yet to receive it. Anyone know how long it takes for them to ship them? Its been a little over two weeks since I ordered it. I live in the US and I am accustomed on getting stuff I order within two weeks over the Internet from US companies. Maybe spoiled?

To those that purchased and received one can you post how long it took to get yours?

Thanks,

Thanks for the reply auntbeckymac,
I will give them some more time as you suggested. The one thing I can say that is bad about them is they provide no feedback on what the status of the order is. Most companies after you purchase provide a estimated ship date and will notify you once it ships and give you a tracking number. I don't think it is too much to ask for. Just checked the status on ccnow their billing company and it still says "awaiting shipment".

Hi,

It took me two weeks to see that it was charged to my credit card, then a week after that, the web site said it shipped, and I finally received it a week after being shipped. So it took a good month.

It would be great if the IR Extender (software) can be used to replace the remote keyboard in addition to keypad.

In response to the statements about a slow shipping time on the PDA-ir, I just wanted to throw in my 2 cents. First off, I got mine in a little over a week, but I ordered the first day the Axim-compatible ones were for sale. Anyhow, Electric Dog Ventures is a family owned company from what I understand. Dane Houston owns and runs the small company. His father, Dave Houston, creates most of the devices (including the PDA-ir). Because it is such a small company, they probably have a lot less money to spend on technology as far as ordering/checkout/status systems. So give 'em a break.....give the products some time to be assembled and shipped. Better to make sure it's assembled correctly from the get go, than to receive a defective unit that was rushed. It should be there very soon, and I know you'll enjoy it once you get it.
:)

deftech,

What technology is required to send an email to:

Thank you for placing an order and verifying they have received the order.

Send an update on the estimated delivery of the item.

Send an update when the item is shipped and a tracking number.

I have purchased several items from small companies and this is the first time it has:

1. Taken this long to get.
2. Given no feedback that they have received the order.
3. Given no feedback of expected ship date.

I would think they would keep a small inventory on hand based on demand to limit ship times.

I run a small business and this all amounts to is "poor customer service."

I purchased it based on the reccomendations here. If I would have known I would have been treated this way I probably wouldn't have ordered it.

I could have emailed them but the point is I shouldn't have to if they did their job right.

Just because you run a small business doesn't give you the right to treat customers poorly.

Thank star50fiveoh,

I guess I have caused him more stress as I have emailed him about the status of my order. I didn't really appreciate the tone of Dave Houston's remarks either on the link you provided. It is pretty clear he doesn't understand how to run a business properly. If he would have emailed those that ordered his product an update on why orders weren't shipped it would have reduced his stress and those that ordered his product considerably.

Like I said I am not trying to be unreasonable but I expect to be updated on the status of my order without having to play email tag with the companies I buy from.
