ozvga and PIE/etc..

I've not fiddled with 'real VGA' (on the X50v) for ages (I just drop a .mui file into the right places to trick some apps into real VGA mode without rebooting, etc.) In the past I used SE_VGA a touch and I think it worked... this round I fired up ozVGA and it seems disastrous :)

ie:

Fire up ozVGA into Real VGA mode and it resets the device; things come up well and tiny as god intended. WisBar Advance and DEXplore seem happy, but Pocket IE and Messaging and most of the built in apps I tried... won't come up. No errors.. they just don't come up.

Is that normal?

I know people browse in real VGA mode, but perhaps they're using MIE extensions or Opera or Blazer or somesuch instead of PIE?

Or did I botch something?

(the files seem to be in \Windows, and it does go into real vGA mode.)

jeff

(I did some prelim searches.)

Hi mate,

You need to do one of two things:

1)Install SE_VGA before OZ_VGA

Or

2)Unzip and copy the contents of vgares (from the OZ_VGA site) into the /windows directory.

The source of the problem is several of the standard dlls won't display at all in true VGA.

Hope this helps,

Mark.

Thanks,

OzVGA is already installed (VgaRes.zip is extracted to \Windows), so I'm good there. It would be odd if OzVGA needs SE_VGA in order to work..

Pocket PuTTY doesn't work with OzVGA either. Aside from DEXplore, I'm hard pressed to find an app it does work with :)

Ah - but if you install SE_VGA before OZ_VGA you don't need to install vgares with OZ_VGA, so you save some RAM :)

Mark.

[edit]It's strange you're having these problems though. I've found a few emulators hang with OZ_VGA, but most commerical applications seem fine. Although, sometimes, you find the digitizer doesn't scale so you get a full-screen app with the digitizer still running as though it's in QVGA mode.

If you haven't installed SE_VGA yet, I suggest giving that a whirl to see if it sorts the problem out.

Indeed, installing SE_VGA and it worked fine. I'll have try try ozVGA now, but seeing as I'm in SE_VGA I don't see the point this moment :) Still I'll have to in order to complete this posting properly :)

Thansk for the tip!
