Help Syncing Two PDAs With One Calendar - In Seperate Locations

Here's what I'm looking for info on how to do. We've got two remote workers that work out of seperate offices. They would like to be able to share a calendar and possibly contacts etc. What is their best approach?

Thanks.

I take it that this isn't something that many people do.

You may be able to do something with the yahoo caladar inline thingy... but it's not something that i would have played with.

Unless you have an exchange server sat somewhere were both guys have access to

FWIW I am very interested in accomplishing the same thing. If I find out anything I will post back here.

This is an interesting concept that I too would like to know about.

I do think having access to a server would be central to this. As much as I don't like Outlook, doesn't the MS stuff have the ability to facilitate multiple users sharing information? Seems like a place to start looking.

I have not used ACT! since it was introduced (overkill at the time) -- but they have a Premium program facilitating multiple users as well. Another avenue to look into.

Sorry I don't have any definate answers.

Quick follow-up. Saw on another forum (linked through here) that WM5 and Active Sync 4 will continue to support syncing via an Exchange Server. Another direction to look for your solution.

Course, I also learned previous ethernet sync to a machine is gone (except as mentioned above).

The best way for them to do this would require that you have an Exchange Server and they are running Outlook 2002 or higher. In Exchange 2003 and Outlook 2002+, you can share your calendar with specific people, and when doing so, you're appts. show on the other user's calendar and vice versa.

We have a couple users that do something similar to this at my work, as they both are in the office at different times, yet do pretty much the same job. To ensure that they both know what the other accomplished, they tend to schedule 50-75% of everything they do. I guess it's the system that works for them.

The way that they accomplish this is to simply include the other person in all their meetings as a non-required attendee. It also helps them determine if they are in the middle of a meeting, and need to talk to the other, will the other person be in a meeting, as the conflict message can be sent to both the organizer and the recipient.

The best place to look up calendar sharing, in this manner, would be MS's support site under Exchange 2003 or Outlook 2003. I believe you'll find step-by-step directions under both. It's not that hard to do, and should keep both users in sync with each other.

I just found On-Schedule, at http://www.odysseyinc.com/index.htm. Take a look at it as well. Their new Remote sync might be what you need.
