PS: im also using the same build
Thanks for the quick response! I now have this tree:

Is this correct?

yes...

now under "Persistent Storage" you can either choose to selectively backup your BIS, your SD card, or your CF card

conversely, you can also choose to restore from a backup from a set with a "persistent storage" part - however, the SD card/CF card would appear under "File System" which is under "System Data". BIS would appear under "Persistent Storage," though

Boy, I've been living under a rock!

Two weeks ago, MightySync (recommended 8 months ago) started locking up, freezing as it gathered information on the files to backup. ActiveSync still works great, but my cards and BIS are vulnerable.

I remembered a recommendation from Frenchy after a ROM upgrade. I decided to check Sprite out today. An Aximsite search directed me to a MTEKK.com review. And now, from reading this thread, I learned Sprite also backs up the registry?
Awesome.

You get what you pay for. It’s time for me to upgrade. Ouch on the $29.95, but that’s cheaper than a crash recovery from scratch. (Has anyone seen a coupon for Sprite Backup Premium?)

Any way, I want to thank all of you PPC users who take time to share your thoughts and knowledge with the world. It's funny that information not available on the mfg's website, or too hard to find, is readily available on these boards. (What's not so funny is the stress & frustration we experience from the technology that is supposed to make our lives simpler...)

Another problem I'm having is with my desktop PC: I just had to close MS Word (I was using it to compose this reply because I'm such a bad speller). I switched to Notepad because my PC's available RAM dropped to 58MB. Closing MS Word boosted available memory to 115MB. I've got 512 installed. (Outlook is not open, but my X50v is on the cradle.)

I didn't know much about RAM when I purchased this Gateway computer 40 months ago. It uses the expensive RAMBUS RAM. The computer came with 256MB. 18+ months ago, I paid $180 for another 256MB (2 -128MB strips that filled up my slots) to increase total RAM to 516MB. The only place I could get memory for this computer was from Gateway. Live & learn.

When I start this computer, before starting any programs, my available memory is just under 300K. Putting the X50v on the cradle uses another chunk of the remaining 300K. I've got to do some cleaning in my start-up folder. I've got WinPatrol Plus that gives me information on every process running on my PC, but I'm still not sure what I need to remove. Is anyone else having problems with RAM usage?

I'm running Zone Alarm & AVG Free Edition. When Charter.Com upgraded cable service in our area last fall, we gor a cable modem - - 40 kbps to 3 MB/sec! Because we had their $43/mo. modem, Charter gave us their $12/month Charter Security Suite to replace our Norton Anti-virus and firewall. (BEWARE: Even with a contract, Charter Communications will boost the price of their modem to $53/mo. if you don't have thier TV cable. I had Dish Network at the time. When I asked them why they added the extra $10/mo, they replied, "BECAUSE WE CAN.")

The Charter Security Suite is thorough, but was a burden on my PC. A few months ago, we switched to Zone Alarm (Free) & AVG Free Edition (Kim Komando's recommendation). Everything runs better, and emails open a little bit quicker. But I've got some spring cleaning to do when I figure out how to do it.

Thanks again for all your technical help.
