Was installing Sidewindow 1.01 and got a message that it hasn't passed some sort of Windows Logo test, and that I should abort ??? Is that normal ??? What the heck does that mean ???

Yea that is fine. Its just not digitaly signed that its approved for windows xp. I just ignored it and told it to install anyways. Most software in beta stages will give you the same message since its not singed off as being approved for that os.
