if you enable the UK_RT_ALT_RT post processor then it should work

Yes, birty is right. I hadn't tested the viewer with V3 of the grabber as I'm making changes to it at the moment. He's also right about enabling the UK_RT_ALT_RT post processor, which makes the channel IDs compatible with those in the V2.20 grabber. The default format of the channel ID is different in the V3 grabber, which the viewer wasn't expecting.

I've uploaded version 1.2.0 to the usual place - http://xmltvview.birtles.org.uk/epgviewer.html - the space for which is kindly provided by Alan Birtles.

Hopefully I've added changes that people wanted, and also made some improvements:

* Now uses the .NET 2.0 Compact Framework
* The import of the xml listings file is almost 3 times faster than before (requires a re-import)
* Added an option to change the text size of the listings and description (on the View menu)
* The listings and description boxes are now resizable - tap, hold and drag the area just above the description box
* Changed the search text box to hold and remember a list of previous searches entered
* Added a 24-hour rolling view to show listings 24 hours from the current time, instead of from midnight (on the View menu)
* Changed the method of setting appointments - tap and hold on the listing to set an appointment
* Programme descriptions are now shown when scrolling with the navigation buttons
* Made various layout changes to improve the display on VGA devices

Your feedback would be appreciated, especially regarding the speed of the listings import, and the way it behaves on VGA Axims (as I don't have one).

I hope you like the changes :approve:

Cheers.

I'll give this and the post processor on the new desktop version a try.

Do I need to uninstall the version 1.1.2 before I start installing 1.2.0?

An over-the-top install should be fine. Just bear in mind that the old database format is not compatible, so it will tell you to re-import.

I had already un-installed 1.1.2, and then installed 1.2.0, but now I don't have an XMLTV icon under Programs!?

Looks like I haven't got .NET CF 2.0!

Sorry 'bout that. The way of building cabs is different in VS2005, and I forgot to set up the shortcut to Programs. I've changed it, so if you download again it should work okay.

The .NET CF 2.0 change is mentioned on the first line of the changes, and is highlighted in red

Here's the link anyway...

I was thinking again. Doesn't WM5 have .NET CF 2.0 already?

After all the earlier version 1.1.2 was working fine for me, and that needs .NET CF 2.0 as well.

Anyway, I'll give this new installer a try.

Hey! It's working fine now.

6400 programme listing imported, loaded and ready for viewing in 2:37 mins. Size of XML file - 4.53 MB (4,759,321 bytes).

Looks fine on my X50v.

Let me know, if you wish some specific feedback about this great programme. :approve:

Cheers

How does the import speed compare with the previous version?

The .NET CF situation is a little confusing. WM2003SE already has CF 1 installed, and WM5 already has CF 2 installed. Plus, CF 1 apps should run fine under CF 2 only.

So I thought I'd just mention that it needs the .NET CF, and let the user download it if they need to...

Can't really say much about speed improvements on importing, I only tried the earlier version a couple of days ago, and didn't really bother to take a note of the times to load. This time as you had asked for import speed feedback, I just timed the import of the XML file. I reckon, it's pretty fair to load 6400 records from an XML file into an SQLCE database in ~ 2:30 mins.

About the .NET CF2 situation, I got a message saying .NET CF2 is missing, when I hadn't got the shortcut under Programs and tried executing the XMLTV Viewer executable directly from under the Program Files folder.

I've now downloaded and installed .NET CF2 on top of the already present .NET CF in WM5.

Yep, I like that one too! :approve: (the resizable boxes)

Some of the RT programme descriptions can be a bit on the long side...

I haven't used WM5 at all - it's not available for my PPC, but I read that the .NET CF 2.0 is included in the OS. But maybe that's not on every device, or maybe only later ones, or maybe they installed an early version, etc...

Much easier to let people decide if they need to install it themselves, than include it in the install.

Like this one too!

But this can be confusing as the date dropdown doesn't change to say the next date. Might be worth changing the date dropdown accordingly, as one may click on the listing beyond 00:00. Don't know if .NET CF may allow you to change that dynamically based on the item selection event!
