Minimo 008 is out!

Minimo 008

Here's the breakdown of new features in 008:

Major items addressed:

* SSL/PSM support.
* Spatial Navigation included
* Preloading and rebasing dll's to improve startup performance. This also address NPAPI plugin loading failures.
* Implemented native uconv (9% improvement in codesize)
* Clipboard operations
* Full Screen Mode
* Fixed xpconnect bug which caused startup problems and problems with google maps API.
* Add ability to use phone feature to "Call" selected text.

I'm downloading now to see how it works on my X50v. :)

Alright, someone tell me what I'm doing wrong...

I downloaded the zip file and extracted the "wince" directory (whopping 13mb). I tried running the minimo.exe on the PC and got the error that it's not a valid Win32 app. Okay, so it's the direct application for PPC and not an installer.

Copied the directory, via Activesync, to BIS and tried running it.

Got the following error:
"Cannot open 'minimo'. A critical component is either missing or cannot start because program memory is unavailable. Tap Start > Settings > System tab > Memory, stop programs that did not automatically stop, and try again."

How much memory does this thing need??!! I've got 25.70mb Main Memory available! :exc:

Update: I'm doing this on my X50v with A05 ROM.

It doesn't work on my x50v either, and hasn't since the 004 release. It fails immediately with the same message. As a developer myself I find this immensely frustrating, especially that they seem to be forging ahead adding new features without ever stopping to release a special logging or debug build to fix the current problems.

Since it is open source, I could figure it out myself I guess, but I looked at the development environment and found it particularly nuanced. I hate having to have specific versions of perl and the like to make it work. I guess if no one starts caring soon, I may try it later myself anyways.

Yes, it does "run" on the X5 although not really worth bothering with in this very primative stage (slow, memory hog, no functions)

No go on my X50v. Come to think of it, I haven't had any luck getting any version of Minimo to work.

Seems pretty slow on my X30 in 624mhz mode. They have alot of work to do on it, but glad to see them trying. :)

Very slow on X5 basic. The java seems to work well, but the menu bar is missing and I can't seem to get it to show up.

In my experience, the memory error really is a memory error. Once furnished with 28 free MB .008 works just fine on my x50. Fullscreen is great, and it works in landscape. Dunno about VGA, but there is a hack on the project page > FAQ.

I just hard reset my x50v and allocated 38MB free program memory and still got the out of memory error. It must be something else, like an assumption on where something should be loaded or the like.
