In the start-settings-personal folder I have somehow lost the buttons icon.
How can the icon be recovered ?

I have access to a second Axim but cannot find any buttons.exe.

So I realize 'buttons' must be a part of the OS but I have been unable to find any info connected to 'buttons' in the registry database.

Not sure how this happened because the Settings shortcuts are coded into the ROM and can't be deleted.
If you want to create one yourself manually it should look like this:
49#ctlpnl cplmain.cpl,12?\Windows\cplmain.cpl,-6200

You can also try a soft reset if you haven't already.

What model do you have? You may be able to hard reset and refrain from deleteing the data by pressing the proper button that is if the soft reset didn't work.

Thanks, it works ... allmost.

I created a file 'buttons.lnk' and placed it in \Windows\Start Menu\Settings and then made a soft reset

Now I can access the buttons program from 'Today-Settings-System' (NOT Personal) but the icon is a 'folder'.

I'm using a X50 with A05-rom.

I'm new to this site, so I forgot to quote you, gjw ! Thanks again ...

My new 'buttons.lnk' works fine exept that the icon is wrong.
Is -6200 a pointer to the icon ?

I still wonder why I lost the original icon ....
