Cool MS Voice Command without pressing a button..

Hi, does anybody know how to make Microsoft Voice Command (download: http://microsoft.handango.com/Platfo...roductId=90635)
listen to me without me having to press a button to make it listen. In other words, is there a way to make the button press itself when there is a human voice calling the pda? Sounds kinda futuristic but from what i've seen pda's can do, it shouldn't be difficult to make a program that triggers voice command when it 'hears' something? Does it exist/is it difficult to make?

That's the one issue about voice command I don't like. You have to push a button to activate it. I haven't heard of any workarounds.

Seems to me that keeping the microphone turned on 24/7 would be an unreasonable battery drain.

I understand the potential "battery drain" but it should be a feature that you can turn on and turn off on the fly.

Many current cell phones have the ability to ACTIVELY listen for commands at all times! I have an SE T616 that has the ability (even with a bluetooth headset) to wait for me to say a "Magic Word" and once that word is spoken it accepts commands. For instance, my Magic Word is "Alakazam". At ANY TIME, I say "Alakazam, call Mom at Home" then immediately, BAM!, the phone recognizes what I said, even through a bluetooth headset, and calls Mom at Home. Never a button pressed. The phone still in my pocket, on a table or in my bag. this can be done at ANYTIME and not just right when I turn on the phone or activate the Magic Word. I can be in a crowded room with people talking or even talking to other people and then say, hours after I turned the phone on, "Alakazam, call Harry at Work" and it dials. AMAZING!

If a SE T616 can do that, there's no reason a Pocket PC or Pocket PC Phone can't.

My Ericsson does it too.

But our phones don't have 3+" true color LCD screens or processors worth mentioning.

It certainly could be done but since Voice Command was an afterthought, and a relatively new one at that, its going to be a while for them to implement all of the features you might want.
And they might never implement a feature that 50% of the users are going to turn off.

but is it that difficult to 'software' press the button when there is 'noise', so it 'thinks' you press the button but actually you shout some magic word?

xiriotronix, Are you working on a program or hack for MS Voice Command v1.5 to enable "Magic Word" ability? I drive with my pda and hook it up via cassette adapter and cigarette lighter power cable. I think VC is novel but I would really appreciate "Magic Word" capability because in my case the only ways I'll use magic word is when it's plugged into the power outlet at home or in the car. I'd rather speak "next track" etc.. instead of reaching to press the "listen button" and then say it in which I could just press the next song button.

Is there anybody that has interest in making a hack or program for Magic Word VC? I just don't know how to do that stuff. Anybody?

I'd better NOT do it. I've measured (please see my roundup of voice controller apps at http://www.pocketpcmag.com/blogs/ind...e_there&more=1 )the CPU usage of VC when actively listening - it's around 80-90%, unlike with ViTO Voice2Go, which "only" has about 30% CPU usage when in magic word mode. It'd drain the battery REALLY fast.

You dont think it will be ok because the only times I would use Magic word mode would be when it's plugged into the wall etc. Isn't there a few people out there who would like this feature? I've been searching the net for a week and have come with only the .link hacks (which seem useful) but nothign for what I'm looking at. I would try Voice2Go but I just relaly hope it's good at voice recog as MSVC.
