I am still getting the hang of hard and soft resets and was wondering if there was a utility that would allow me to power the unit off, do a hard reset or a soft reset kind of thing ?

I've got it running here and it does the job :)

Admittedly it's not actually on an Axim, but it is a PCC with MS 2002 on it... Or is that 2003? The latter I think :)

There are a few out there. MemMaid (in addition to many other things) has buttons for this. But to tell you the truth I don't see much of a need for it. To power the unit off (put it in standby) just push the power button. For soft reset you just push the button on the back (not that you should have to do this to often) and for a hard reset you push the power button and the button in the back. But a hard reset is always a last resort. I would not recomend doing them unless it is your last ditch hope of fixing a problem. I have never needed to do one outside of the one required for a ROM update. Good Luck~

Hey that utility looks pretty cool. So if I understand correctly, some of these utilities call a soft reset a restart like XP ?

Of am I misunderstanding something ?

There is one that mimics XP's shutdown procedure. "Shutdown."

I like to use Handymenu, which gives you a little pop-up menu on your TODAY screen with reset, shutdown, and even hard reset. Go to Handago or Pocketgear for more info.

I love it. One great feature: It allows you to set all sorts of neat functions to the "quick action." You can then program any button on the unit to the "quick action". I programmed the voice record button to refresh the today screen, for example.

Definitely worth $6.

Yeh I know you're right but FWIW some like to turn off their device with their stylus- don't need to change the grip on the case and then just shut it. Also, some of us soft-reset daily- much more convenient from the today screen !
To each their own ! I personally use Todaywarrior- fantastic small footprint app- and set it to only show the top line (power off, soft reset, lock backlight "ON", memory usage shortcut etc)
