New beta package. No new features since the last beta, but now packaged in one version for both WM2003 and WM5 and later. No need for a "loader" anymore for WM5 devices. (If you don't know what that "loader" is, now you don't need to worry about knowing it. ;-)

Hi Dogfood,
Great work on this app, But is ther any way to redirect the "\Cache Disk" to be stored in the folder "\Storage Card\Cache Disk".

I have been trying every registry entry I could find, but after syncing the changes I make revert back to to original setting.

the Key I am changing is:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\File Explorer\LocalPath="\Cache Disk"
and making it:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\File Explorer\LocalPath="\Storage Card\Cache Disk"

Any Ideas?

Thanks, and btw I forgot to mention the hardware being used.

The PPC is a SYmbol model MC50 with a 1G SD Card running WM2003SE and the main problem I am having is the amount of data I need with a particular program that was written to use the Cache Disk folder to "enhance the spped of search the data"but makes it useless for what I need.

Any help you can give on this issue I would greatly appreciate it. But if by chance my research with the unit or online solves the issue I will post it here for all else to benifit from.

My x51v (WM5) freaked out a little over a week ago and quit syncing correctly; It would sync some stuff like the contacts and task list perfectly but wouldn't do the calendar at all and the files it would only do some. I restored to a backup but was still having the same syncing issues. To make a long story short after much trouble shooting and trying many different fixes I decided to do a hard reset and rebuild from the ground up. Unfortunatly I'm still seeing issues. One that I'm able to repeat, and not fix, is that after installing and setting up RegTweak and then performing a soft reset it doesn't automatically start back up. I have to go into settings open it and close it again for the indicator bars to show themselves on the top of the screen again. When I open all the settings are correct, so I don't have to change anything but it won't start on it's own. I suspect there is a registry setting that is somehow associated with the start up process and is affecting the programs that fire up when the Ax is turned on. I don't think it's being returned to it's default setting after doing a hard reset (I've done a number of them and the behavior is consistant)
I don't think the problem is with RegTweak as one of my other start up programs acts like it only gets partially through it's start up routien too. (Launcher by Scott Seiglemen, only displays the default icons for shortcuts pointing to the CF card) I've used both these programs for years and have not seen this problem with either of them until now.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, I feel lost without my digital brain!!!! Help!

1. Did you download my latest build from post #1 or did you use an older build you saved?
2. Did you install RegTweak on internal memory or memory card?

I really suspect that there is something that is throwing an exception during start up, after a soft reset, that is stopping the start up process from getting to RegTweak . Unfortunately I don't know what it could be. If there is an error its not being caught in any way that displays even if I have error logging turned on. And like I said earlier a hard reset is not resetting whatever is causing this problem.

I'm currently trying to find out more about the boot up process but there does not appear to be much out there.

It sounds like the device initialization has some problem. Perhaps the internal memory is not ready when the system is trying to start the services that are stored on internal memory.

Sorry that I can't help you much here in a fast way. You might want to try to extract the launcher exe file from my earlier package and tap it to launch the service at some point after you device is booted. If that works. It really is a timing issue.

Yeah I'm pretty convinced that its a timing issue, I just don't know how to solve it ... yet!

dogfood, are you absolutely sure getting the actual CPU clock doesn't work on PXA310 CPU's? Can you disable the CPU checker code so that I can see (on my HP 210) whether it works? (Currently, the checkbox is grayed out; it's only the current CPU load that is displayed)

i have a 4700 with sanjays v3_lite rom. i accidentilly installed the 2003 version then total brain freeze i installed the new beta.. long story short. it bricked my device . i had to re flash the rom... i dont think it was your software but my stupidity....do you think it is safe to try again ? with a hacked WM6.1 rom ? i dont want to go through another reflash.. (thank god for backups)....
