I need to work on two very large documents (650KB) for school. Needless to say I need a full-featured word processor app. and Pocket Word obviously won't cut it.
But ultimately, these documents will have to be MS Word documents because my professors require it.
I know it's possible but I need to know if it's simple to open a Textmaker file using MS Word - a friend of mine said she tried to open a Textmaker doc in MS Word and got a bunch of weird symbols all around her text and spent an hour deleting and reformatting.
I don't want to have to do that.
Is it easy to read textmaker docs in MS Word? WIll the formatting be preserved?
Thanks in advance...
One of the Save As options is Microsoft Word 97/2000/XP so I would think that it should work fine, I have not had any problems. I beleive there is a free trial available so give it a try for yourself.
You could always get the demo and try throwing your files at that

You can change the default file type in Textmaker to Word - so you won't have to open the file on your desktop in a textmaker format.
Just remember to set activesync not to convert word files to pocket word.
is TextMaker 2002 the latest version? thats pretty old.
also, I have a question about pocket word. What should be the conversion setting when transferring word docs from desktop to PPC? pocket word format seems to create very small files (for example 50kb .doc file becomes 200 bytes .pwd file) which don't even open on my PPC (am I doing something wrong?). Only the rich text format (.rtf) works on my PPC but the file sizes are doubled if I convert .doc files to .rtf. any suggestions?

Just so you know, TextMaker 2005 for Windows (not sure about PPC version) is in beta. If you're planning on getting TextMaker 2002 now, find out what the upgrade policies are.
Also,if I am not mistaken there is a holiday in October or November where Germans do radical things. I can't remember the holiday but last year they had Textmaker at $11.11. I think that was the date 11/11. Maybe someone's memory is better than mine.
The Nov 11 date marks the beginning of the "5th Season" in some areas: Carnival. Carnival has a long tradition in those areas of Germany. It is meant to be funny and they take that seriously!

My brother served a two-year church mission over in Frankfurt and he attests to that fact that they do take their humor seriously. (Is that an oxymoron?) At any rate, I got mine for $11.11.
