Golf software

Has anybody found any golf software? Im looking for software that you enter the course information, then you enter your score (each hole seperatly) and it keeps track of your scores and computes your handicap. Anybody know of anything like this??
Thanks

Sounds pretty easy, but im not a fan of
golf, so I dont know the formulas or even
how to really track scrore in golf, but if
you could provide some information maybe
I could whip a very basic one up real quick ..

OK, here it goes. This might be a little confusing, but I'm pretty sure that the handicap is the average number of shots over par for your best 10 rounds out of your last 20 rounds. (I think this is how it works).
So you have to subtract par from your last 20 scores, then average the 10 best (lowest).

I could probably do that in a couple of hours,
let me play around for a few days see what I
can come up with, ... unless someone else can
whip one up faster..... i've got to work and watch
two kids!.. but give me a few days and i'll do what
i can.. (Plus I am going on vacation thursday! ..)

I bought the StarCaddy from Handago. Its primarily a GPS program, used with course maps you can download at their site (first one free with program and around $20 each thereafter). It has a scoring mode, even saves golfers you regularly play with and yes it keeps bets too! Without the GPS (which very accurate with my Pharos), you can still use the course map and scoring but only allows you to enter handicap, does not compute it. Will save the rounds to make that easier though...

Bomberman is correct on the best 10 out of the last 20. However, he left out another factor and that is the Golf Course's slope and rating.

Here's the "official" calculation method:

How to Determine Handicap Differentials

A handicap differential is computed from four elements: adjusted gross score, USGA Course Rating, USGA Slope Rating and 113 (the Slope Rating of a course of standard difficulty).

Handicap Differential = (Adjusted Gross Score - USGA Course Rating) x 113 /USGA Slope Rating

I can't find a solid definition for adjust gross score. I believe it's what you shoot for the round. Slope and Rating can be found on the score cards.

Worried Golf Software for PPC

I bought Intelligolf and it works great, you can download the courses or enter them yourself. They have a demo verson that will allow you to record three games on if you want to test it out yourself.

Worried

There are more than one version of it, I have the Par version. There is also one that will install on both the desktop and PPC and will track your stats. :D

Another program you should check out is Golfwits.

Go to www.golfwits.com. You can download courses and log the actual shots. Also had a desktop version.

I bought the Birdie Version of Intelligolf, and love it. I have over 30 courses in my pocket PC, all running as well on my desktop, all my golf buddies and handicaps are in, and all the side bets we make!

The courses are FREE and is easy to install new courses even from the Axim!

I have a round of Golf next Tuesday, and Friday this week. I will let you all know if it works as properly.

Thanks!

I wasn't quite sure on calculating the handicap, thanks for clearing it up. Those both look like really good programs. Does anybody have GolfWits? Also, let me know how you like IntelliGolf. Thanks for all the replies. Does anybody with IntelliGolf know where I can find out what courses are available. I'm in Canada, so it might be ify. The golf course is Belvedere Golf and Country Club just outside of Edmonton, Alberta, if anybody knows how to check for me. Thanks again.

Here are the links for both Intelligolf and Golfwits to search for courses.

www.intelligolf.com/courses.asp
www.golfwits.com/advanced_search.asp?id=3206606

I did a quick check of both and did not see the Belvedere club. You might want to check closer or contact the companies.

Golfwits is an excelent program!

I found all the courses I play available for free download on their site. I'ts very straighforward to use. You just mark on the map with your stylus where you're ball lands and tell it what club you used and it does the rest. It keeps score, compiles stats and even recomends clubs. It's very cool, I bought it a day after trying out the demo. (Note: If you're going to by the PPC version of Golfwits 2.0 don't buy it on the company website for 29.95. I found it @ pocketgear.com for 19.95.)

I'm still working out the best way to use it on the course. I'm thinking I'll attach an otterbox case to the scorecard holder on my push cart. THis is a great program.
