Remove launcher.dll?
I installed Scott Seligman's Launcher program. I tried to uninstall it but it won't let me. It tells me Cannot delete file launcher: access is denied. How do I get rid of the launcher.dll?

Try unchecking the box in the Today screen settings and then doing a soft reset. Try to uninstall again.

No that will not work either,
you need to edit the registery manually
go to HLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Today\Items\

there you'll find an entry for your luncher, go to the "dll" value and change it to whatever dummy value (or even better delete the whole entry of the program you want to remove)

Now you need to force the todayscreen to refresh (to unload this dll) go to the today plugins tab and do anything and then close it

Now you can delete the dll

There is an option to remove the registry entry automatically..
in the today settings, click on launcher and goto options..
click the remove registry entry.... disable the check box
then do a soft reset .. then delete it

I took the other route and did a hard reset. I have been adding and deleting so many programs I figured it was time to start fresh. I picked my favorite apps and those are what I loaded.

I'm not sure which Axim you're using, but I didn't have any of those folders, etc on my X50v. BUT, thanks to your directions, I was able to find the .dll and get rid of the program. Thanks! Here's how I did it on the X50v:

Open explore in activesync on my desktop
go to my pocket pc
choose program files
change the name of launcher.dll to alauncher.dll

Now you need to force the todayscreen to refresh (to unload this dll) go to the today plugins tab and do anything and then close it

Now you can delete the dll by using settings/remove programs

I sure appreciate your help with this post. I'm trying out several apps to see which ones I want to use - I don't like it when one of them won't let me remove it.
