Lost my Windows Media Player
Hi there,

I was on Microsoft looking at updates for Pocket PC 2002, and I saw there was an update for Windows Media Player, from 7.1 to 8.0. I downloaded it and installed it, and at first it said I didn't have any skins.

So, I went back and downloaded a skin, and it started working. It was able to play files off of my wireless network, but they were really poorly buffered, and choppy, so I decided to uninstall it, under Settings--> Remove Programs --> Windows Media Player Update.

Now, I don't have any Windows Media Player on my Axim. When I went back to Microsoft and attempted to download and reinstall Windows Media Player 7.1, the install program stated that "The connected device is not supported."

I just want the old Windows Media Player back... Is it on the Dell CD somewhere?

Help,

Ventivent

Do a hard reset and you should get it back, as it is in ROM.
(at least I hope you'd get it back). A hard reset should set everything back to the way the system arrived from the factory.

Also, the WMP loaded on the Ax is WMP8.5. You do not need to upgrade it...it's the latest edition.

Unfortunately, you'll have to do a hard reset to restore the Media Player from ROM.

Try this

or read this thread.

You may not have to hard reset.
