Right -

now works, two things though -

You have to make a folder 'Built-in Storage' under 'My Device' in file explorer - ie don't just unzip unix-root to the top level dir on the internal memory.

Secondly I find it only works if you use TEXED.exe in ...TEXMF/bin - not the one from the other download listed.

If you read the other posts in this thread you'll see advice on how to put it someplace other than 'Built-in Storage'

Not sure why that's the only one that works. Been a while since I set this all up.

I installed Latex in my X51V, compile a simple tex file with no errors, but windvi complaint that "Not all pixel/font files were found"

In output, "Can't find font cmr10.300pk"

What I am missing?

Problem solved, I just need ot generate my fonts...

I am going to try to get clisp to work now... that would be awesome!

anyone know how to get a pdf output from the latex? On linux I would use dvipdf or something similar - is there anything for Axim? (X51v).

Hi,
anyone had any luck with printing from windvi (ie printing the latex file)? If I could print to a file, then I could probably use ghost script to convert that file to a pdf...
However, when I press the print button on windvi, nothing seems to happen.

Printing isn't supported on pocket pcs. I've not seen any ports of dvi2pdf either, because they usually depend on ghostscript, which is another program that isn't ported to PocketPC. Maybe someday...

This is incredibly useful!
I've got as far as beign able to run Tex, which seems to compile.
However, when I then click on Run WinDVI it says:
"Fatal Error
Not all pixel/font files were found"

Really very confused!!

I got the same problem an i tried to generate my fonts, as birkoff did, but the error isn't going away.

Have I not correctly generated my fonts? Or could something else be the problem?

In the root directory of the device there should be a text file called missing.txt Open that and generate all the fonts at the appropriate magnification.

Thanks for your help in setting up latex on my pocket pc.

Modifications :

1/ To make the installation work with another base installation directory (instead of the base directory /Built-in Storage you want it in /My new/Directory) on a CF Card for example, then edit the file on your ppc :

\My new\Directory\unix-root\texmf\cfg\texmf.cnf

and change :

/Built-in Storage

to :

/My new/Directory

2/ To enable french keyboard, copy the files :

inputenc.sty
latin1.def

from your desktop latex installation to the pocket pc directory :

\My new\Directory\unix-root\texmf\tex\latex\base

and add :

\usepackage[latin1]{inputenc}

in your tex document just after the \documentclass line.
