NEW Remote 2 PC Client Software
Hey Axim Community,
There's a new VNC software out by Z2Corp (makers of PocketLan) called z2Remote2PC. Check it out here: Handango The features on this new software is pretty cool. Talk about a loaded software. Many of you may be using PtVNC (normal or hi-res). I tried both (bought one) and it was disappointing. Finally bought Danwares NetOp Viewer ($179) and it was everything PTVnc wasn't. I have to say, Z2Remote blows NetOp out of the water and is a fraction of the price! I use remote desktops often when downloading files overnight or converting DVD's to watch on my pocket pc. I don't have to get out of bed to check the status of my work. Just launch the viewer and with a few clicks, I'm back to sleep. ![]()

What does this software do that TSC doesn't already do for free?
The only other thing I could possibly want out of a remote desktop program would be the ability to run my 3d graphics card and simply get a screen representation. I think VNC does that doesn't it? I remember someone saying they were showing off their halflife 2 through their pocket PC. Anyway, this thread sounded a lot like an infomercial... If you buy now, you get a free electric nose trimmer !

![]() Correction--Terminal Service Client---yes, you mean that limited screen viewing is good? I tried it. A hassle to connect and log in/out. Yet, you can't beat it if it's free.

Also going off the 3D games thing, it would not work out no matter what software you have as the X50v still does not have near the graphics chip of a pc and VNC just refreshes to slowly ![]()

TSC keeps logging out my Windows XP machine to another user. The Admin User profile with no password doesn't work for my machine. That's why I looked into other VNC type software. It's so easy with NetOp. The refresh rate for NetOp is also very good. I can see what section of the movie where the encoding process is at with DVD Studio.
I like the features of the z2Remote product. Can't wait to test it out.

Hmm... isn't the TSC only able to do like 256 color on the Pocket PC? When I was kicking the tires it really looked ugly.
People looking at this thread should also check out Remotely Anywhere 6 (or their free service at logmein.com). I've been using the Server Edition for work and it really lacks nothing and is extremely flexible and quick. This may be overkill for many, but their free service has the right price. ![]()

Wow, there is something fishy about this forum poster, it's too professional. Anyway, I tried this new remote desktop software, and actually, PTvnc has many features this software doesn't. PTvnc has it's problems, and their tech support was acutally quite rude when I tried to point some of these out. Like thier keyboard sucks and you have to go to options to even use the keyboard. In this respect, this new software is an improvement. But besides that, it has a lot less options, and PTvnc speed seems about the same, perhaps better at lower resolutions.
Because you have to use thier special software, instead of normal for example Ultra VNC, it really limits what you can do. I saw nothing that great at all. The main difference is, you can just click on things, instead of having to use a button as a left mouse click. But to be honest, sometimes using a PDA button as a mouse click is really better. I just don't see anything about this new software that makes it worth the price they are charging, with a few improvements, if PTvnc will get over thier know it all attitude and listen to suggestions, it would be the best. Oh, and by the way, once you use VNC, you will never go back to old terminal services.

"Too professional"...I love it. You can check me out on Morphgear's forum too. Listen guys, I'm not trying to sell the software, just wanted to share. Anyhow, I tried it and the refresh rate is not as good as NetOp but better than PtVNC for sure. I like the fact that you can zoom out/in. There's also a built-in "Close Active Window" (red X) on the interface. In NetOp or PtVNC or TSC, you have to use your scroll bars to find the upper right corner of a given window to even click on the X, here it's pretty simple. Set up is a breeze too. Just ID and PW---I don't have to search for the IP Address of the host. The screen looks nicer in VGA than the 256 colors. Overall--it's a good start. I'll use it and see if I can utilize it's other features.

I hope guys that you are not going to blame me for hijacking this thread- but is the new z2corp VNC like software supporting the latest and much more efficient RealVNC communication protocol v4.0? Or is there any other pocket VNC software that does this?

I've used Z2Remote to surf the net with great success by connecting to my main computer on the local network. It is much faster than waiting for PIE to render pages. Things are a lot slower when connecting from outside the local network, but there is still a speed advantage.
