Styletap Palm Emulator?
Just came across this, apparently just released today. I haven't as yet had time to try it, but it looks interesting. Anyone willing to try the trial out?

That's actually a big temptation. For the most part I am perfectly content with my PC apps. There is one Palm OS program I really miss which could be enough for me to try this.

The web page states it does not support conduits. This may be a dumb question, but if software gets regular updates off of the web, is that a conduit?

If you ask about software like AvantGo it does use a conduit to get the data from the web. Now that I think of it I don't know any software for palm that did not use conduits to get it's external or updated data

I am interested in this product b/c I want to get Act! for the palmpilot on my x30 and have it sync w/Act! on my desktop. Would that require a conduit? What is a conduit?
Thanks,
Steve

A Conduit is a connection to a desktop app... so no, it won't work for ACT!

Hmmmm....
I looked at the webpage. I couldn't find any screenshots!

I have a lot of registered Palm software, but I can't see why I would want to run a Palm emulator without conduits. So I could run SilverScreen on my emulator on my Dell?

I have a few fun Palm games, but they always feel so dated when I compare thrm to my superior Dell Axim!

I guess looking at this made me realize that I just really don't miss my Tungsten or Sony.

Has anyone tried it? I would be interested in their review. But, I still don't think that I could part with $30 for it.

I have been waiting and looking for a Palm emulator on the PPC for a long time, and I just tried out this program and I am extremely impressed with it thus far.

I have a lot of registered Palm programs/databases and some don't have PPC equivalents, and the ones I have tried on the Axim have worked flawlessly. It also saves me having to buy the PPC equivalents again. I haven't tried any complex games which I expect could encounter problems, and wouldn't have any need for them on the Axim anyway.

The interface could be improved upon with more options.

I originally installed the program into Built-in memory and found that whilst it worked, it ran slowly. I subsequently installed it to Main memory and the speed improvement was dramatic and very usable.

I think it is definitely worth $29.95 considering it opens up the PPC to the world of Palm software (or some/most of it anyways)

I spoke on the phone w/the fine people at styletap and they were eager to gauge our reaction. I told them a conduit is very important and could help their chances of success as a startup. If other people feel the same we should let them know. They were very interested in learning what it would take to earn our business, so let's show them.

Yes, but it's not actually direct access so it's painfully slow compared to using a cardreader or using Card Export on a Palm.
