Compu2Go Reviews SanDisk Combo CF
Compu2go has reviewed the SanDisk WiFi/128MB CF card .

" With the number of WiFi hotspots poised to explode across North America, SanDisk is ready to lead the charge for bandwidth-hungry users with the first line of dual-function WiFi/Memory cards. I was lucky enough to play with one of the first in the company's new ConnectPlus line -- and I was impressed with what I found! "

meh, 128 meg CF cards are really too small to use for anything. Seems like a waste to me.

/agrees. And I've never been a big fan of multi-function products anyhow. My experience has always been that the quality is not as good as buying the products individually, unless they sink a lot of money into it....which in turn makes it too expensive to be worthwhile.

I purchased the card, and have issues with it--a lot of them. Not only do I have yet to make a successful connection with the card, but the Axim gets excruciatingly slow...it slows to a crawl while I'm attemping to use it. I'll give it a few more tries, but I'm getting close to returning it. The Compu2Go article mentions this sluggishness as an aside, but it is really a major issue.

1. Did they complete the 2003 drivers for it?
2. Why not market the multiple mem sizes?
3. How does it perform vs other WiFi cards?
4. Promiscous mode?

Why doesn't anyone make a CF GPS with memory so ppl can keep their mapping data on it?

Hmmm... Those drivers look ALOT like my d-link, which work on 2k3. Someone should try installing the d-link drivers if they have this and 2k3.

I have the connect plus card, find it is very, very slow with axim.
finally got the thing to work with my wireless router, have to have power cable plugged into axim in order for card to have enough power to detect that there is a signal present. When the power cable is plugged in, it speeds up the other apps a little...although it is still very slow. Am waiting for pocket pc 2003 upgrade to see if there is an improvement since driver file is smaller and may require less resources hopefully, maybe it will use more of the pocket pc 2003 OS to control it. The memory card capabilities of this card stinks, tried to install some games and programs to it and most do not work well.

I could not get the card and included PCMCIA adaptor to work with my notebook for some reason.

So, my verdict....
Yes, it works......Very slowly and only with power cord attached.
Yes, it has 128megs of ram...find may be only good for storing mp3s or documents.
No, I would not reccomend it to anyone. Go get a different CF wireless card. This card stinks.
Yes, it will probably end up on E-bay because I really have no use for a slow Wireless CF lan card that requires a power cord to be used with it. Plus I would like to have available memory that works properly.

After reading so many flames against the SanDisk Connect + low power wi-fi 128 mb card that Dell sells I just had to check it out for myself. The first thing that didn’t add up was “Why would Dell sell a product that it hasn’t tested on the Axim?” and Does it work? I got one, and have WM2003 on my AX. I loaded what was on the installation disk, and then the 2003 version from the Sandisk website. Don’t do that. Unlike the gentlemen in the review that tested this card, I was able to remove the old program and files. After I removed them I loaded only the 2003 from the website. I went to Circuit City, and connected to their WIFI Netgear system within seconds. I turned off my Ax, and had to reset it to recognize the WIFI card, but it worked flawlessly. There was no slowdown, but I also run my AX at full speed all the time. Everything was fine with the exception of having to reset the AX. I also recommend removing the WIFI when not in use. The battery drain was hardly noticeable, but I will swing by and test it for 1 hour to get a better idea of what kind of drain the card has on the AX. I hope this is helpful.

Hi, I currently own a Casio E-200 and experienced similar problems as robz2fast. That is,

1) requiring that the ac adapter be plugged in before I can get a signal (solid green LED).

2) slow response using the wi-fi utility when the card is in but the green LED is off.

3) hanging of my notebook when trying to use it with the PCMCIA adapter

I called Sandisk and of course, they told me that there were no known issues with the E200 (the Axiom, however, has a firmware issue the the chipset used in the Sandisk CF wi-fi card) and that it must be defective. So, I sent it in and got a replacement but guess what...same issue! Looks like I'll have to get a refund and go with Linksys, Netgear or Socket.
