I hear you with the trackball complaint, however with the wheel you cannot go from a middle of one sentence to middle of another one line above or below immediately.
Also trackball has many other advantages when it comes to faster browsing. With 8100,8300 and 8800 you have the desktop view which can be navigated using a mouse, with cursor.
