Bluetooh question
I want to get a "Bluetooth Dongle" from eBay in an attempt to connect to the inernet on my notebook via my 6315. I was wondering do I need to be careful of the type I purchase? What do I need to be concerned with? Here are a few things that I want to clear up before I begin bidding.

1. Is 1.1v compliance important?

2. What does class 2 refer to?

3. Will just about anything work with the 6315??

Thanks again for all the help I would be lost without you guys

1) Dunno.
2) Class refers to range. Since everything should be withina very short distance, any class will do.
3) the important thing is for your notebook to use WIndows XP Service Pack 2. SP2 has a built-in Bluetooth stack that works with nearly any BT dongle. The management app is complete and does whatever you want.
4) Even though you didn't ask, yes this is possible. You end up with a 115Kbps connection to the internet via GPRS.

I have to disagree with No. 3 above. The Microsoft bluetooth stack limits the use and compatibility of the dongle.

See here for instructions on how to revert to the Widcomm stack

http://www.geekzone.co.nz/forums.asp...8&TopicId=2200

You'll also find other excellent guides to help you set up. Get a 100m BT dongle also.

I agree with Harry. I tend to prefer BT dongles that use the Widcomm BT drivers. They work the best and has less hassles. I have used Linksys BT dongles and they work very well.

I paid US$25 for my 100m Billiton, the dongle in your link has got to be worth a try being the same price as a beer!

Sheeze...! You sure know how to hurt a guy.

I just hooked up my 100m Socket but not for the neat pice yours went for. I really like the BT management software that came with. Really a help for a BT beginner like me.

Take Care

Okay everyone I just recieved my "dongle" and I have it all hooked up, I have read the Bluetooth link on the home home page but I still have a few questions.

1. When I go to my network connections and "click" on Bluetooth DUN Connection, (under Dial-up) it asks for:
User name:
Password:
What so I put here?

It also says:
Dial: *99***1#
Do I do anything with this?

2. Am I even in the correct place?

3. Will this cost me as cell minnutes or will it fall under the unlimited internet connection?

Just to refresh everyone I am attempting to connect my notebook to my 6315 to connect to the internet.

Once again thanks in advance

Go to the Bluetooth Manager. Create a Com port mapped to your PocketPC device.

Go to Networking on your PC and create a new Dial-Up Networking connection using the Com port you just created. Ignore username and password fields. Enter *99# for the number. This will dial the internet modem connection for T-Mobile.

The connection counts as internet, not cell minutes.

I'm getting close - but I'm not there!
I'm about three months into trying to set up a PC - GPS - PDA link and I'm really getting close, but I need some help

I've gotten them all paired, finally, but my applictions can't see the GPS.

I believe this is because the comm ports that got genrated are way out of range of the software and pda. (29 - 35).

The software / PDA can only deal with 1 - 8 or so. So? how do I get control of/create the correct comm ports

Environment XPPRO SP2 on ACER Travelmate with 0 physical comm ports
IPAQ 5555 USB connected (only known user of virtual comm port
Acore Wireless GPS receiver AG600
Fugawi 3.0 ENC and MAPTECH application software

Thanks for any advice
