Pair Nokia 6230 and iPAQ 2210
Hi
Since no Swedish forum or support can help me my hope goes to you. Some background: All text and error messages are translated from Swedish. It might not be 100 % correct but I hope you get the meaning of it.

I’m trying to pair my Nokia 6230 with my iPAQ 2210 PPC 2003. When I try to pair from my iPAQ I get “can’t establish a connection”. After that my Nokia is in the list of paired devices in my iPAQ but I can’t establish a connection and my iPAQ is not in the list of paired devices in my Nokia. If I try to pair the two from the phone I get “connection refused for security reasons”.

Both the iPAQ and the phone are “visible and available” but I can’t get a connection to work. Any suggestions?

Welcome to the site

I haven't seen this problem in a while (I also have a 2210 and a 6230 and had the same problem).

The issue is caused by the Nokia having a later release of the BT Security standard than the H2210 originally came with (the same applies for the iPaq h1900 series as well, as these were already out when Nokia released the phone).

The solution is to run a BT Security ROM update on your 2210. You can get the update from:
http://h18007.www1.hp.com/support/fi...oad/21093.html

Let us know how you get on.

I’m so grateful!! I’ve just connected to my 6230 and it works great! To configure bluetooth on my 2210 with TomTom, OziExplorer and Nokia 6230 has given me many frustrating hours in front of my computer. I guess you know that TomTom locks the Bluetooth port so nothing else can communicate with the GPS receiver. And when I finally solved that, this problem shows up. But now it starts to work just like I want it to do. Many thanks! You have beaten Nokias own support, Sweden’s biggest forum and a few other…

Hey Rob,

I guess mine is going to need a little more help. I just got my 6230 and was having the same problem. I thought, "Cool, I can get this working. No Problem." I downloaded the update but it still gives me the same problem. Any other suggestions???

Uninstall, soft reset and reapply the update.

Also turn off and turn on the phone.

(I seem to recall that the very first time I tried it - it didn't work for me).

Life is good

The only bad news is that the 6230 doesn't like 2 devices at once. i.e. the iPAQ and the headset.

Have you tried a soft reset on your unit first?

If they are included in the add/ remove programmes have you uninstalled the exisiting drivers first?

Hi Guys,
Came across this thread, and was please to see that there is actually a chance of pairing a Nokia HP to a HP Ipaq PPC. As I am a proud owner of both, namely my new toy : RX 3715 and nokia 6260 both BT enable.

Was pairing both and not much issues met there but upon using rx 3715 function for "Dialing via BT" the PPC just couldn't connect to the N6260 despite being PAIRED. Tried another freeware softwares for SMS, but was too "ERROR".

I call and email and did all the Qs to HP and guess what i got for a reply "....would advise you to change your HP...." oh please !!! Come on here, do i have to buy a HP that FITS your device ??? What type of after-sales services are these ????

Thus am here, not only to source for an answers from all the experts here but also to prove to HP tech that it is possible !!! Please guys, help me out here !!! Thanks

Again, Device is RX 3715 (newest ROM) and Nokia 6260 Thanks guys

This is a bit drastic but have you tried a hard reset of your iPaq and defaulting the phone back to factory settings and trying again?
