iPaq as a bluetooth audio device?
Is it it possible for the iPaq h2210 to behave as a audio device for a bluetooth phone? Specifically a Nokia 6230i if that matters.

I also have access to a Axim X50v, it has a service Audio gateway in the Axim bluetooth settings, is that what I'm looking for? I've enabled it and tried it with different boxes ticked under there but my nokia won't connect. It finds it as an Audio Enhancement but fails to connect.

I've updated my iPaq with the latest ROM on the hp site and the extra bluetooth updates that they have listed. Is there somewhere I can download a patch/profile for the iPaq to behave as a headphone?

I'd like to be able to take calls via the iPaq or the axim as I use them as an MP3 player while I travel to and from work and would find it convenient to not have to get the phone out.

Thanks

Rob

Seems anything like that would be an aftermarket feature through a program. Have a look here:

http://www.aximsite.com/bluetooth/

There is a section called "dialing a number through your phone using pda" it might be what you are looking for.

Yeah have given that a go, works well once that damn two devices are talking.
Further to that I would like the mic and speaker to be routed via the iPaq rather than having to get the phone out.

Will keep playing, thanks

I don't believe you can use the Audio Gateway profile to connect to the phone. This profile is not available on the phone. It is different then the headset profile. Most BT phones only have a few BT profiles supported (headset, serial and file transfer).

Hmmm I think I want it the other way round. To have the phone see the PDA as a headset ie the phone doesn't need to change or have an additional profile, it's the PDA that needs to behave like a headset would.

Thanks

The PPC does not advertise the headset profile to be used locally for the PPC. It will allow use of a headset for the PPC but it will not allow the PPC to be used as a headset. These are the profiles that you can link to on the PPC from another device:

Bluetooth Serial Port
File Transfer
Network Access

This is what you will see anytime you try and create a BT connect from a device to the iPAQ. Since the headset profile is not advertised in this list of usable profiles the iPAQ itself cannot be used as a headset.

This test was established by using an iPAQ PPC phone and connecting it to my iPAQ rx3715.

Bugger. So would need some special software to enable this profile.

What would be the right search terms to look for this should it exist.

"Audio Headset Gateway for Pocket PC"?

Thanks

That may be a good start on Google.

Well that's the problem I search for these terms and I get the results for PDA's supporting a headset not a PDA being a headset!

I've tried some different combinations but get the same results (well similar but in the wrong direction)
