Bluetooth Problem
I'm attempting to share the internet with my Pocket PC via the bluetooth dongle connected to my Desktop Computer. They seem to be unable to connect to each other. It appears they can find each other but they are unable to share the internet. It may be something with the Bluetooth. I've had this problem before and had to use HP Support before, and eventually got the bluetooth working, however I have forgotten how I got it working, and the HP Support Chat is offline for the weekend. A screenshot of my setup is available here: http://www.root32labs.com/screenshot.jpg

-- Some information:
Microsoft ActiveSync Version: 4.0

Bluetooth Dongle: Cadmus Billionton Class 1(http://www.cadmusmicro.com/produsbbtca1.htm)

Desktop OS: Windows XP Home SP2

Pocket PC: H3970

Pocket PC OS: 2002

Help would be greatly appreciated.

Do you have ICS enabled on the desktop?

Check out our Bluetooth Guide found here to get some good pointers on how to set this up.

ICS? Can't say I do.

When I activate Bluetooth on the PDA, and click 'Start ActiveSync', it says 'Device **** has no Serial Port services available'

As I said, they seem to find and communicate to each other, but they don't sort of share data.

The annoying thing with my Bluetooth is the 'Advanced' properties are unavailable when I right click on my Bluetooth icon.. These options are available:

Add Bluetooth Device
Show Bluetooth Device
-
Send a File
Recieve a File
-
Join a Personal Area Network
-
Open Bluetooth Settings
-
Remove Bluetooth Icon

And there's another bluetooth icon in my task tray which has red in it and just has these options:

Start Using Bluetooth
-
Bluetooth Device not Found

You can see all of this taken in the screenshot above. And as you can see in the PAN network connection the bluetooth connection has a red X. I can't open My Bluetooth Places, 'Start Using Bluetooth' does nothing, and when I click on 'Join a Personal Area Network', it can't find the iPAQ in its searching, even though in the bluetooth settings, the iPAQ is one of the devices.

Got it working now, going in to the ActiveSync Connection properties, I had to allow connections to COM11.

Cheers.

JacobJAc,

Have you figure out how to get ICS working with your billionton usb dongle? I too am having issues with the Widcomm drivers.

ICS is useless...just do a "bridge" connection between the bluetooth virtual network adapter and your current local connection...
