Bluetooth USB dongles, are they all the same?
sorry for the cross post, i thought this might be a good place to post this question as well..

I'm using activesync over WIFI to sync with my HX4700.
I know that this will no longer be possible with activesync 4.0 (wm5), and since i'll soon be getting a BT GPS, I am interested in BT USB dongles.

I see many of them being sold on ebay for like $0.99
I was wondering, are there different types/qualities of the BT USB adapters?
I know there is class 1 and class 2 , bt 1.1 and 1.2, usb 1.0 and 1.1 etc..
but besides these, are there any other things to consider?
i know nothing about different profiles as mentioned on some descriptions.

All I would want to do is make my home desktop pc and laptop able to communicate (sync) with my HX4700 and communicate with the GPS.

any danger that these cheap no-name bt usb dongles won't be able to do the job?

thanks
mike

As far as I'm aware, the only real difference is the 'broadcast' range; I just chose one on Ebay that had a suitable range & bought it, & it works fine (but maybe I was lucky )

Soft and drivers are not the same: Widcomm soft seems to be the best, and it determines wich services are implemented for your BT: ie: I have an old Tecom BT3030 that has 300 ft range (Class 1) but lacks Audio gateway...
