Hi there.

I just got myself two bluetooth dongles today, also IVT bluesoleil software.
I use a HX4700 and my desktop is xp sp2.

If you had installed the software succesfully on your computer, you should see a blue bluetooth icon on your taskbar. once its there, you can open it up to see the main screen (orange globe with circle around it). Make sure in My Bluetooth, you have a name for your device, it is connectable and pairable, and will accept any connection.

on your desktop, in activesync, under connection settings, make sure to allow serial or IR device to connect, and specify the com port .

that's all i had to do you.

on your ipaq, in the bt manager, you can specify which type of connection you want. ie. activesync connection or PAN. If you choose PAN, in the desktop bluesoleil, you can configure the PAN service to use your network card as a WAN.

if you are having further problems, please post what exactly you are having trouble with and which error messages you encounter.

thanks for the replies

i seem to have setup 2 connections but they don't work:

firstly i have enabled all services in bluesoleil

Activesync
The problem i have is which com port on the PC? i have com ports 1-14 in device manager but only 1-9 show up in desktop activesync

i have told activesync to scan for connections but it cannot find my IPAQ

IPAQ is connecting via "'BlueToothActiveSync"

yet i get this constant message "Connecting to host"

the status shows bytes sent but not received

Internet via network

I have setup the IPAQ to join a network.

strangly enough when i connect to the PC i am asked for a username, password and domain (i leave this blank) and i'm connected to this network (i can see bytes going to and from both IPAQ & PC)

when i try and sign into msn or use explorer i get the following errors :

Explorer looking for www.google.com
"The page you are looking for cannot be found"

MSN
"Service could not be found"

unfortunatly i cannot refer to your guide CookieKid as i have no "BlueTooth Places" due to this BlueSoleil software
