HP Bluetooth headphones charger adapter?
Hello,
I have an HP bluetooth stereo headphone set that has served me well but I have damaged my charger adapter. Does anyone know where I can get another one or a charger that dose not require the adapter, HP wants $61 plus shipping for the adapter, that seems over priced.
Thanks

12/24/05 Just a quick update, I have found out that the connector for the logitech(they make the hp headphones) mobile freedom headset is the same. I bought a car charger for $9.00, a check of the positive and negative routes, a cut, a splice, to my original ac charger and i'm back in business.

That's because it IS overpriced, my friend. HP sent it to me free because th headphones were under warranty when my dog chewed by previous one up, but outside of warranty it is going to be difficult to find that specific barrel adapter because of its proprietary connection type.

You could just try a bodge job and cut the lead keep the plug end(with some length on it) for headphones and attach a new cigarette adaptor to it, or maybe attach a usb plug to it....google is our friend you know....would be easy to do for either one.

uhh I take the last post back... I just got a set of ipaq headphones....and I see what you mean by the connector. What was HP thinking(or should I say smoking) when they came up with the idea of this little plug???? Anyways these headphones are a complete bastard to get working....I dont know how many attempts I had trying to connect to them with my 2215 but I got it going in the end. Now I read that they have a typical fault with the band on them....unreal!!!

Oh well, they sound pretty good.

me ashman, I'd consider getting the coathanger wire and tape mod on that band pretty quick. Cut a wire to lenght, then wrap it with the same curve of the band, then thouroughly tape it to the band. I think I posted a picture of this in another thread. Anyways, that will make the headphones last a helluva lot longer. I have owned three pair of those damn things and I can tell you that if you use your headphones, untaped, each day, the band will snap in 1- 1.5 months and render the headphones useless.

ok thanks Justin...just had a read and saw your picture.....will do to mine and my wife's pair.
Are your's still going with them wrapped?
Also I noticed a strip of rubber going along the band on my pair, I wonder if that can be pulled out and the coat hanger wire put in there?
Cheers,
Ash

No, don't try to pull that rubber out! I thought it was a strip too, and figured that maybe I could try to pull it out so I could hide the coat hanger in there, but I ended up ruining that pair trying to get it out. (I made that pair into my bluetooth audio reciever in the mod section, I think). What it actually is is a liquid rubber that has been injected along the inside there, so it is actually fused and around the wires that lie beneath. The wrapped headphones worked fine up until the point at which I decided to redo the coat hanger wire. (I wanted to try and hide it without all that tape, so I peeled all the tape off and tried to remove the rubber, ruining the wiring). But they still lasted like a good 3 months and probably had another year of life left in them if I wouldn't have destroyed them.
